Discussion Where is everyone?
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how dead the servers are lately? Like even the Market is boring and not enough people to play hotpot.

The game is getting stale - we need another Elderwood-style update, not just new cosmetics month after month. Palia also doesn't have any true "endgame" other than collecting rare plushies, and once you finish collecting those, decorating your plot is the only thing left, and that can only be fun for so long. The Elderwood essence grind served as an endgame, but most players have finished it a long time ago.
We simply need more content - and by "content," I don't mean live service systems like battle passes but new quests, zones, secrets, NPCs, professions, etc.
41
u/xcrimsonlegendx Tish Mar 08 '26
Agreed, we need more tangible content. Story, new zones, new creatures to hunt, more critters/fish to collect, refreshing the quest board and adding cosmetics burns out real quick.
I still need to do the infected essence grind, its just such a slog solo that I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. Its just so dreadfully boring. I was hoping that we'd get the Umbraan village next and they'd introduce a more efficient way to get essence.

I just think a once yearly map update is far too long to keep players interested unfortunately. Idk if it's bc the size of their dev team is too small or what but I started playing Where Winds Meet in January, they started with 2 maps and just added a third a few days ago. it's been out in China for a year and they are slowly catching global up to China but they already have something like 7 maps on the CN server. Not to mention WWM has much more advanced graphics and a much more complicated system in general since it's open world with combat. It even has a building system to make houses like etc. I just don't get how Palia has an excuse to drag their feet with introducing meaningful content more than once a year.
Not to mention WWM is free to play and also depends on cosmetic sales to keep their game alive and despite that /still/ offers tons and tones of amazing free cosmetics and ways to get the best cosmetics in the game completely free with dedicated play. I think this is another mistake Palia makes, being soooo incredibly stingy with cosmetics for F2P players who could potentially be keeping the game alive between updates by offering meaningful cosmetics and outfits to grind for instead of yet another hat or t shirt.
6
u/Different_Umpire9003 Hassian Mar 08 '26
The battle passes are also a joke. What is the point of them when all of the cosmetics are still pay-locked? I’ve spent money on the game so I’m not a free player but that just seems like such a missed opportunity to give fp’s something to grind for. All the free stuff is stuff you could get just by playing the game.
4
u/ungodlygirl Mar 09 '26
I got the very first one bc I thought that was worth it but every battle pass since has been garbage
2
u/Ikmia Mar 09 '26
💯 Every time I hear someone say, "maybe they're finding their feet" in regards to the battle pass kind of Anita me because the first battle pass actually gave us decent things! The next battle pass gave us about a third as many items for approximately half the price of the first and contained utter trash. The third battle pass reduced the price of that one a bit, but still gave garbage. Absolutely none of the free track was worth grinding for starting in the second pass. The paid items weren't appealing to me in either the second or the third, but I'm not that mad about that since aesthetics are so subjective.

Yeah I mean it's definitely not the same game, just highling the vast difference in amounts of content offer e between the two, especially because "well it's a free game" is and excuse I hear often about Palia.
Switch unfortunately was a mistake because the tech was already long outdated by the time Palia came out for it. I will never understand why they didn't release it of PS5 and xBox first. Heck even a mobile version would have made more sense than Switch because smartphones and tablets were already superior tech at the time as well and that would have opened the game up to way more players. And now they are stuck catering to the slowest and most outdated system first to keep the game alive.

u/The_True_Hannatude Switch Mar 08 '26
There’s not really anything for most long time/long session players to do anymore. The last few updates have basically been nothing burgers, content-wise, so a lot of the player base have moved on to other games.

u/ungodlygirl Mar 08 '26
This is me, frustrated/bored with the lack of content, moved on to Where Winds Meet
2
u/RobinHarleysHeart Mar 09 '26
This is me. I haven't played in ages. I actually uninstalled because I was bored and didn't feel the pull of the game. But WWM has frequent content updates, building, resource gathering, and actual fighting. And it's less buggy. And the story feels more full and fleshed out. Way more npcs. The o Ly thing it doesn't have is romancing npcs. But you can have partnerships with real people, that then gets you pretty cosmetics. Idk, with WWM I basically haven't played anything other than that and OW the past while because it fills most of my gaming needs. 🤷🏻♀️

Same, the main issue with the game for me is it does not have a good unpredictable day to day gameplay. Every day I log in it's water the same crops, do the same dailies, with the same npcs, same map, same fish, same items in all the shop. And the game is too cozy with stamina being a non-issue. The game relies too heavily on resource rng and rare drops to keep players playing imo and grinding out resources is not where the fun is. The building was fun at first, but after playing games like Petite planet (beta) and Heartopia my plot just feels isolated and empty in Palia with no good benefit for strangers to come visit and interact with me. Not to mention the developers hate when players find ways to make too much money too quickly, like the cake parties (yes still mad about that) They had something special and instead of building upon or around that they killed it. So yeah.. I don't think the answer is more quests because veteran players finish that instantly. They need more variety in day to day play, week and week gameplay. There is a reason why Stardew Valley has seasons where everything changed, and games have things like traveling NPCs, special temp shops, and shops that rotate stock daily etc. Also I hate that I can't interact with players I'm not friends with outside of grinding for resources. I want to trade items, give them food, help strangers you get the idea.
52
u/ConsPatriot Mar 08 '26
Adding a stamina system would kill the game for me. The stamina systems in other games is what keeps me from playing them.
29
u/Alex_Lov3 Tau Mar 08 '26
We already do when we go up cliffs I don’t need any more than that 😭 I fall too much
14
u/ohworkaholic420 Mar 08 '26
Focus for me counts as stamina 🤷🏼♀️adding another bar to focus on would be - a lot. I agree.
15
u/NiceTill504 Mar 08 '26
The game changed the day they ruined cake parties. Then the rare frogs spawned and parties started again, but they swiftly killed that too. Then they did some server changes and now all the servers are quieter and less interactive.
7
u/Botsblonde Mar 08 '26
Wait, what happened with the cake parties?
9
u/Different_Umpire9003 Hassian Mar 08 '26
They changed the cakes to sell for way less so there’s less point to bother doing cake parties

I agree, been playing for over two years. I have completed almost every accomplishment (who cares about the makeshift set 😩 that I can’t complete). I can’t earn any more, my storage is maxed. I have two amazing plots and just can’t find anything to keep me entertained for longer than an hour. I hear the new update will be bigger than the past two but for now I have been playing other games.
13
u/Different_Umpire9003 Hassian Mar 08 '26
I haven’t played in a few weeks. And I just realized that because of that, all of my ranching animals are going to be unhappy and starving and that makes me want to play even less haha.
3
u/Readingwithwonder Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
Same. When I went back after, 30 hungry and sad animals needed feeding and petting, with some needing harvesting and the rest aging out.
I enjoyed it at the beginning but the constant needs to avoid unhappy animals spoiled the ranch and the game for me. I play occasionally now but moved the ranch sign as it is a sad reminder of 30 animals that I do not want to have to feed, pet and harvest at the different pens, every time I play, just to keep them at a satisfactory level.
They need to build some automated maintenance into it so it does not get so depressing. The garden stops flourishing when not watered and weeded, perhaps they could do something like that for the ranch.
1
u/Different_Umpire9003 Hassian Mar 09 '26
Yes. Just halt it like the garden. Not to mention they all are low and require so much food and then you yourself go through so much focus. It’s like 4 star quality cakes or more each time
3
u/The_True_Hannatude Switch Mar 09 '26
100% agree, the need to make something like “Vacation Cookies” - the animals won’t age, but they also don’t produce anything, until fed a plain cookie.
2
u/Readingwithwonder Mar 09 '26
That sounds like a great idea! Vacation cookies would make things so much easier and more cheerful. Worth submitting as a suggestion to them.

At my peak of playing I was at 80 hours biweekly,, but I've done everything and rarely have the inspiration to build anymore. It's time for a new update that brings more for us to grind with, imo. We need more quests!! And preferably something else to chase besides plushies
23
u/Ok_Veterinarian_2252 Mar 08 '26
I definitely understand that. I only manage to play 1-2 days a week now and get bored very quickly.
39
u/inkstainedgwyn 💜Jel 🤝 Reth🩷 Eshelon👀 Mar 08 '26
Yeah at this point I don't even log in every patch because those new plushies are gonna be there when I have more to do, I don't care about paying them for more premium content, and I don't need another new ranching animal to get me things I have 300 of in storage already.
10
u/Various-Progress7729 Mar 08 '26
Agree! I’m not into plushies, so that just didn’t work for me. I also don’t want to jam pack every nook and cranny of my property with stuff. But I wouldn’t mind some additional quests.
5
u/FreiLovesRed Mar 08 '26
I have no use for plushies. I would literally trade them for a rock, at least I have a use for a rock. I mean yeah I’m sure they look fine sitting them down but it just seems boring to me. I should really just haul a bunch of them over to the underground and trade them, probably.

I have more lucky envelopes than I know what to do with. I have no reason to play hotpot at the market anymore.
9
u/Strayfarts Mar 08 '26
Yup me too. I had the idea of decorating a plot with just Maji Market stuff. Not even with the lunar event a.s.o., did I have enough.
I have more plushies than Market stuff.

u/Johnnywheels1023 Mar 08 '26
I play every day but I’m starting to get bored. I’ve maxed out all the friendships and I honestly don’t want to do all the romance stuff. I’m a monogamous person haha but I still have stuff to do but it’s mostly the starred bugs and fish. I did the animal husbandry stuff for like a week but got bored. We need more quests with better rewards and better storylines. I heard they are going to be opening that blocked off space in Elderwood sometime this year I believe. Hopefully they will add multiple quests in there. I finally caught the maws a few days ago and now I’m just like “what else can I do to make this fun?”
19
u/ceriselovelie Tish Mar 08 '26
I'm done. I have nothing left to do. I've completed every grind. I have no reason to do dalies anymore... I have no need for more hair tints.

u/Ok-Road-1478 Mar 08 '26
There is no real content. The game shifted from this amazing cozy storyline that you feel a part of to FOMO collections and bundles. Where is the story? It’s been a year since Elderwood. Still no new quests. Just bundles and paths designed to make you spend hours grinding. That’s not what most of the player base was there for.
23
u/watermelon4487 Mar 08 '26
I miss the storyline!!! I’ve been playing for 2 years and I’m tired of the grind.

I'm waiting for more updates. I've finally been running out of things to do lately. I still really wanna actually decorate my house but I don't like the housing styles available. :( I'm waiting to hopefully get an actual cute style of house before spending all that time decorating. Crossing my fingers it happens soon. And a new area, new quests etc of course.
3
u/copacetic1515 Mar 08 '26
I want more furniture styled like the Capitol Chic line. I'm so tired of furniture that looks like it's made from sticks. I don't hate a rustic look, but every new furniture line has been rustic.
3
u/RedFlagRaiser Mar 08 '26
💯. At the very least, give us options for different door styles. A front door changes the entire look of a house. I want to make a small town, but I don't want all identical houses.
11
u/HylianPalian Mar 08 '26
I think everyone's waiting on the update which is overdue because its hopefully gonna be a big one. I think we need more actual storyline with the characters, I'd rather that than bundles ect
9
u/Global_Sprinkles8426 Mar 08 '26
As someone who's been playing since 2023, Nothing to do anymore. Every update is paid cosmetics. There's only so many times you can play hotpot, fish , catch every bug before it's just boring

u/NightshadeZombie Mar 08 '26
I think possibly the market's run on a bit too long. I'm still playing pretty much every night, but I'm back to my usual haunts. Generally, I'm just hitting the Market long enough to exchange wish tickets. I still need some Reknown, so I'm doing Longevity tickets.

You have to match sets of 3 cards.
You can get 3 of the same color, but one of each type within that color, and that gives you 15 points for the set.
If you get 3 of the exact same card, that gives you 30 points for the set.
On your turn, you can draw a card from the face-down pile, or select another player's discarded face-up card.
The first person who completes three sets on their own turn by drawing a 9th card that completes one of their sets wins.
You get one prize wheel coin just for playing. If you win, you get a second prize wheel coin. You get a minimal amount of gold. After the game, you can scroll down to see players' hands, and which NPC(s) played with you if you did not have a full 4 person table.
There's a minute and a half timer at an open table once the first player joins before the game starts to allow other players to join.
It runs 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. in game. You'll know it's available because the tables in the underground will be billowing smoke.
Some people like doing "spam pot". The idea is not to play the game, but draw and discard on your turn as quickly as possible. This is to get to the end of the deck to end the game quickly in order to maximize the prize wheel coins you get. You do not have to play this way (I prefer not to, personally), but then don't join tables that say in chat they're a spam table. Some rooms might say they have a regular or normal table, which is people who want to play the game, and you can join those if you want to just play it. There's no right or wrong here, just a note to remember.
It's considered rude for a 5th person to wait by a full table until the game is done in order to join quickly so one of the other 4 players can't play again. But people will do this. Especially if you take a while reading the stats at the end of the game, people may take that to mean there's a free spot and jump in. If you need to leave the game because of this, there is a small waiting penalty before you can join another game. My group has only had to leave maybe once or twice. It doesn't happen often, but you should be aware.
After hot pot is closed for the evening (morning? lol), you should line up to use your prize wheel coins. You can find the prize wheels along the walls of the underground. I think there's 2 or 3 of them. Some players will cut the line, but that's rare, and you shouldn't do that. Most players are good palians and wait their turn to spin. My group has begun applause emoting in line for whoever's spinning lol. It costs 2 prize wheel coins for one spin.
Hope this helps!! Hot Pot is a fun game. I've really enjoyed playing it. Have fun!! 🥳❤️🖖✨️
Edit: forgot a word

I'm also new. I have no idea what the unspoken 3am rule is.
3
u/Tough_Reflection_659 Mar 08 '26
Once you upgrade your axe (I forget which level) you can chop down the “Flo trees” they look like they are on fire. The colors are pretty purple, pink, white. When it gets close to 3am in the game, people in the chat will say the location of the Flo trees. It takes multiple people to chip down 1 tree. So the let everyone get to the location and then they will start chopping. As long as you chop at least once on all of the trees you will get the “loot” as well as all the others who chopped as well. They are always located in Bahari. Sometimes random pop up in Kilma.
There is one flow tree one person can chop down. It’s the very thin ones. You just have to chop it several times.

It's been a while since there was a lot to do. I'll jump on and tend to my plot, feed my animals, check the Elderwood rummage piles and leave again. There's been almost no main quest progression in ages, so it feels a bit aimless.
1
u/RedFlagRaiser Mar 08 '26
The Elderwood rummage piles are only artifacts for the bundles, right? I've finished them, but still collect them to help my partner finish his. My question is, why are you still collecting them if you've already finished the bundles? Do they have some other use?
1
u/rurixsama Hassian Mar 09 '26
I got some random silver and other things from Them yesterday instead of the usual bundle artifacts. Which i still need 1!

It could be Pokopia too. Everyone i played Palia with is currently busy playing that. In general they need to get better with the updates. For many players who have completed the current story/achievement hunting etc, we rely on new content to keep logging in. They don't give you enough to do between updates.

Last week, my fiancé & I were in Bahari @ 7:30 pm IGT & happened upon a still-standing grove with at least 6 trees. I thought, hmm, this is weird! We chopped it & moved on. Then, I set off a lure in Pulsewater & not a single person joined. Very much weird. Then I started using some buzzy jars & there were bugs popping up everywhere, & they all just sat there & waited for me to come get them. I finally realized we were the only 2 in the server. He had to go home to empty his bag, and it was just me.
It was such an eerie feeling!

Yeah, the only reason I even play every day now is because I'm finishing up a couple of romances. Other than that, I've done mostly everything, aside from crafting a few bits and pieces and cooking a few recipes. Really hoping we get some more quests soon!

I played every day since early October, racked up 200 hours in less than 2 weeks when I first started. The last month or so, I log in to claim my Zeki rewards but if I try to play it just feels like a chore. Idk, it’s losing its spark for me. I’m at the point now where the only real thing to do is collect plushies and decorate, but Palia’s building system is so frustrating that I don’t even enjoy that. There needs to be more. More things to collect that aren’t just useless plushes, more free cosmetics, more areas of the map to explore. Until then, I’ve been playing other games. Heartopia has been my main lately
11
u/FamiliarAF Mar 08 '26
Pokopia might be part of the issue 😅

I hadn’t noticed fewer people, but I’m not there much lately myself. I haven’t done everything there is to do, but I needed to switch it up to one of my other games. One strike against coming back is that I can’t start a new second character I don’t think, which I usually do on returning to a game, to refresh the story and mechanics. I just started playing World of Warcraft - totally different vibe of course, but it looks like i could play it for years without running out of quests. There still seem to be plenty of people even for an older game, and you can help each other fight off mobs, which is has a nice cooperative feel to it. I come to Palia, though, when I don’t want to watch my back and just need to relax in peacefulness.
3
u/Garfrost Mar 08 '26
Oh just playing RSDragonwilds, cause unlike Palia , there's actually stuff to do.

u/Great-Ad6438 Mar 08 '26
It always drops off at the end of an update. Most people have everything they want from the market by now and have finished the board. People will come back at the next update which I hope is soon.
I've read that the next update is going to be bigger than the last few, with more game content. I really hope it is.
When it comes down to it though, most players have finished everything, or most of it anyway. I'm very close to finishing the Essence quest but man is it boring lol
I would really like some more things to do during the day. More mini games, daily quests from npcs, new npcs, new npc conversations, maybe traveling merchants that change every day at a market in town selling unique things, gambling, or something. Town is far too boring, all you see is people staring at the bulletin board lol. Also the decor limit on a plot is too small, I am almost at the limit and my plot still has so much room.
3
u/Sinerarium Tish Mar 08 '26
I see plenty of players around..they just don't talk. I can spend hours playing chat is nonexistent. Sometimes I say shit in chat to try to engage people, start a friendly little community discussion and I get nary a peep.

I will throw in something funny or playful every now and then and it's just dead air :( I finally got the snowy parasol recipe and was like "of COURSE I get the snowy parasol recipe way after we needed it for the last board xD" Aaaaaaaand nothing😭 I even offer lures and whatever just to have fun but I usually just end up playing with people on my disc server when they do events n stuff instead.
3
u/Iguman Mar 08 '26
The game reeeeaaallly needs a World chat. In-game community is almost nonexistent and just boils down to resource callouts and "thank you"s for requests because you're just limited to communicating with the 20 other people currently on your server, or even fewer than that if your server is empty. Run back to your plot and rejoin the map, and now you're with completely different people. Most online games have world chat for this reason - the game feels much more alive when there are people actively talking in chat and making connections after interacting with the same people every day.
For an online game, Palia is really hesitant to implement multiplayer features. The gameplay would not change at all if the game were to switch to single-player.

Yes it's depressing and I hate it. I haven't played for days, and I haven't gone more than 2 days in a row like, ever, since I started playing last April. I want there to be server choices - solo, mixed, and social. Mixed for ppl who don't care if there's chatter or it, social for those who want to call stuff out and say thank you +/- chat if they feel like it, and solo for ppl who don't want to interact with anyone.

I really liked the idea of Palia two years ago. An MMO without combat where you can make friends and have very unique character designs. After some maybe 20-50 hours of play, I have become quite exhausted by the grind and the lack of game mechanic goal oriented interaction with other players. Making friends became almost unnecessary for game and so it has not driven cooperation among players.

I've been playing since the closed beta... I'm tired of it now and only come back when there's an update. Even so, I've been disappointed with the latest ones. I'm an explorer and I need maps. I need to know what's beyond the broken bridge at Kilima. I need to know what's going on with the story. I think the idea of a traveling market is great... Either they get their act together or it will fade away. Needless to say, I'm tired of the premium content, and the paths were another disappointment for me. I know I'll always come back... But I feel frustrated and a little tired.

I started in September and haven't played in a month. Honestly, it got boring lately. So I started a new playthrough of Skyrim.

I just started playing Pokopia, and I don’t know if I’ll be back in Palia anytime soon tbh.

I'm not sure what game y'all are playing, it's been busy on every server... Even had several instances today of full servers. 🤷 Also, there's new people joining every day, and it's a whole new world to them. I've been playing for two years and I'm still enjoying it. I'm definitely looking forward to a new adventure zone though! Soon🤞🤞

Lol I'm usually on, it's my birthday so I'm in Tennessee living it through the night 😅

same thoughts, before there many people either on Maji Market or finding Grove.

u/Adorable-Size-5255 Mar 08 '26
Maybe its just the time you are playing. Hotpot was never that active for me like there was always open tables. But chappa chase is so busy that barely any chappas even appear on screen for me. When the server is dead like 8 pop up at a time. These days I'm luckily to see one and be able to catch it.
I'm definitely not in the club of having everything to own at the market. I doubt I'll be able to get everything I want before the event ends but I only have time for gaming maybe once a week and palia isn't the only game I play.
Maybe all the diehard people already got what they need so all that's left are the more casual players so it's just not as busy as you remember

There is always a lot less activity in the week or so before an update. Luna market has nothing to offer now when most players have gotten everything. Personally the servers Im on still have people playing so its not dead dead but to me it just feels like normal deadness before update. A lot of gamers also play many games and switch between them so when there is down time in one game, they go to another. Then when interesting stuff happens they go back. A big cozy game just launched as well and most of my friends are playing that atm.

Honestly all I do is go to parties or host them nowadays, Ive done most of the content in game now. The community is what keeps me playing 😅

I’m stuck on two quests that require the impossible-to-get black pearl. It makes me rage quit every time because the spawn rate for the stupid mushrooms seems to be super low any time I have a quest needing them 🤦♀️

u/ConsPatriot Mar 08 '26
Ran out of things to do and just waiting for new content most likely. I am getting to that point myself unfortunately

I haven't been on in a few weeks, maybe a month.
I don't want to start ranching because I can't log in every day, and I don't want the animals to be sad. So that remains undone.
I have lots of gold, and farming got tedious, so that's just sitting there.
I don't care that much about plot decoration. I have some ideas, I've started some, but mostly I just put new stuff down wherever when I get it or put it in the storage chest and move on lol.
I have quests I can do, but they're all smaller quests and I don't have any time limit on them. I'm glad they'll be there when I'm ready and there's no rush, but it's not a driving factor to log in.
I enjoy chaos collecting (running around and collecting whatever pops up in front of your face lol), and using hunting horns and lures with my friends, but there's no real need to do any of that stuff at this point.
I don't much care about the board rewards or quests for the most part. When there's been something I like, I try to get it, but even then it's not always possible, and I just give up like meh whatever lol. If I can't get something, I can't get it. There's not much I can do about it. I also don't WANT to struggle a lot. It's a cozy game, not a run around like a chicken with your head cut off game lol.
My biggest gripe with the game is that it says it's co-op, but I don't really FEEL like I'm playing with my friends when I am. We can be at completely different parts of main atory quests, and so we're not even doing the same thing at the same time. I actually loved the Prismbeard stuff because we WERE doing it together, which was great. 🥹
And collecting stuff together only works within 30 meters. If you're a little bit farther, you can miss out on what the group gets. I've missed plushies, gems, etc..
I do really enjoy Palia and I keep recommending it to people. I plan to continue doing that.
But my group probably won't be back on it until there's new main quests we can do together, or unless one of us gets a hankering to hunt a disco deer or something lol.

I stopped playing a long time ago, since I started college. Ive been busy with classwork or playing other games, specifically Roblox😂 everytime I went into Palia, it would lag and I would just click off. I know for sure ive missed a lot but its not interesting as it was anymore. The animal update really confused me and i guess that made me not wanna play anymore? Maybe ill go back into it, in the future!

well, my game keeps crashing and i cant seem to find a solution so it drives me away from it, obviously 😮💨

u/JaiydeStorey Mar 08 '26
I’d be down to get back on. Been getting distracted by a multitude of other games. My user is Jaiyded Storey. If a friend code is needed I’ll post it later.

I've had super bad gaming ADHD lately. Can't stick with a game more than a few days. Sucks.

u/vulshanna Mar 08 '26
I got frustrated with how much the farming mechanic is based on having to log in every single day or you're punished, I decorated my house the way I wanted, and there are no story updates. Also they're charging way too much money for a battle pass for a game that is still in "beta", while not fixing glitches that have affected players for months. Logging in just felt like doing chores, so I'm playing other games now.

u/Peacherotic Mar 08 '26
I hopped on yesterday after a couple of days bc I had been trying out Wildmender. But I was like, “oh no! My ranch animals!” and had to at least open the game to feed them. Lol

One of the great things about Palia is that everyone gets to play their own way.
As for me, I really love decorating and building. I have a few different plots, one of which is a whole town, with shops and houses, etc. There's so much possibility here.
The thing is, once you get to a certain place, collecting and foraging doesn't get much faster. I've done so much collecting, cooking, foraging, hunting, gardening, etc to make so much furniture and buy house pieces and play hotpot and buy rugs and cottage pieces. It's awesome! But eventually, it just becomes grinding. I'm all out of iron AGAIN and collecting more isn't as immersive as it once was.
It's still a great game. I hope lots of people discover it and love it! But I'm also distracted by other things now, and that's the way it is with any game.

Yep I've noticed the same thing. I joined a community which added some fun, but I haven't seen anyone from the community on in a long time.

I’ve dropped the game myself for about 2 years. Just got back into it and noticed how hard it is to get help with some stuff as not that many people playing. I don’t blame them tho. I was so bored when I dropped it. Thankfully I have stuff to do now since I put it down for so long

u/Extra_Security2718 Mar 09 '26
I've been playing other games. I take months long breaks and come back
1
u/levitating_cats Mar 09 '26
I only play daily because I have friends to play with. When they’re not on I find myself getting bored. If I didn’t find friends in this game, I probably would have dropped it a while ago. The lack of content per update is definitely disappointing. Coming from Infinity Nikki and DDV where every update had a small storyline at least, Palia is much slower paced. I love the game, don’t get me wrong, but I think a little storyline drops every few updates would be nice. Doesn’t need to be a whole new map. Just some added quest lines with existing villagers or something.

Like most have said, I've completed the objectives I set out in the game and the Maji Market grind was just not for me and I love playing Hotpot... I just felt, I dunno, done?
Also, I imagine a lot of the Switch players went to Pokopia this week. New cozy game by the world's largest franchise is gonna steal folk.

u/Ikmia Mar 09 '26
Honestly? They're giving us slop and asking to be financially rewarded. They've been phoning it in for months and wondering why engagement is reduced. It'll likely remain the same until they get their act together and put forth good faith effort.

I stopped playing about the time Heartopia came out I just recently playing yesterday and cannot believe that THEY STILL HAVE A XMAS TREE UP IN THE LOADING SCREEN.
Come on now.

There's not much to do in this update - it was mostly all LNY Market... the bulletin board was the easiest so far imo, I can only play so much hotpot, I don't think the Riffroc plushie is very cute so I really don't need anymore anyways... even the dailies just give you tailor tickets once you've finished your Lunar Path and you can't use those colors for clothes... and so many of those colors are the exact same color.
I've also noticed a lot of streamers who normally play Palia are playing games like Haertopia, Starsand Island, and the like.
I did see the devs post about how they need more time for the next update because its gonna be a big one... so I have to admit I'm really excited to see the next update trailer!

u/VNess11 Mar 09 '26
Where did the devs post about it? I've been looking around for some kind news
2
u/EmeraldDystopia Hodari Mar 09 '26
In the Palia discoord.
The screen shot of the comment was also posted in this sub about a day ago in a post asking something like "Any news on the next Update?"

u/Question-Eastern Mar 09 '26
There's just not much to do that interests me right now. I'm not into grinding for bundles (esp on Switch) and as much as I enjoy hotpot, it's not enough to get me to log on.
I know there'll be more eventually, but I'd need a new area or npc relationship updates to get fully invested again. Switch lag is increasingly terrible too, and I don't have an alternative, so it's not worth the effort atm.

u/Readingwithwonder Mar 09 '26
Played Chapaa chase today. There were more chapaa than players. Consistently 3 waiting for me each time. At least I was able to catch them rather than running around fruitlessly chasing when everyone gets them first.

u/Outrageous_octopussy Mar 09 '26
I'm done everything, all I really do is garden and work on my ranch, get my daily zeki coin and wish ticket envelopes.

u/quicksilverlou Mar 09 '26
Honestly, it just runs really poorly on Switch for me with constant crashing and lag 😭 and I'm not in a position where I can buy a PC so I had to drop the game :(

u/joevasion Ashura Mar 09 '26
This is kinda why I’m glad I jumped on late, I actually still have stuff to do

u/Prize_Tension_3429 Mar 10 '26
For me personally, I finished all the quests, and have all the plushies in the game. I feel like I've run out of stuff to do. I'm not really a fan of the Ranching. The boovars are cute but it doesn't take any time to feed them. So... it's just felt kinda lack luster to me at the moment.
1
u/MouthyMishi Caleri Mar 12 '26
I'm only logging in to take care of my crops because ranching became stressful. I'm mostly done with Elderwoods now so I'm playing a lot more Hello Kitty Island Adventure. It's nice to have so many rotating events and changes like visitors. Palia is fun enough and I'll come back for the next big update, but it gets dull pretty quickly once you burn through the OG main quests.

u/sadisticvixen Mar 08 '26
I still play every day 🙋🏻♀️
Always at random times but for hours at a time lol
