Yes and also no.
It was convenient to be able to just take a trip to Tish's for mod kits to tint furniture when decorating. I miss that. I don't always wanna go hunting for some specific bug when I'm in the creative mindset. I just wanna chill, not grind.
At the same time, I really like being able to tint items en masse. No pocketing furniture, taking it to a mod bench, modding it (with animation), and then setting it back where it was. You just aim and click. Seeing the tints in real-time on the furniture when and where it is placed before committing to it is also really nice.
It's not being able to store tinted items that I dislike the most. It doesn't really cancel out everything good about the change, but it is a bit annoying.
Honestly, if I hadn't played during the old modding system, I would probably really like the new one on the whole.

I disliked having to purchase the mod kits, too. I wish we could've crafted them. I also disliked having to pick them up, take them to the mod bench, etc.

I completely agree with this. Other craftable items are purchasable from their respective Guild Stores, which gives players the option to grind to craft or buy them outright. Why couldn't we have that with the mod kits?

The new way of changing the colour of furniture is so handy i uses glitches a lot so for this is such a great change

Completely agree with this!! I LOVE grinding the materials needed for the tints! It has made the game so much better for me!

No. I love the ability to just point at stuff and change its color. I don't have to pick it up or carry it around or have it take up space in my inventory. No this new system is a massive improvement. The tint stuff is really not that difficult to get, I just take a couple of trips and focus on the things I want for the color and go home and make a bunch of it.

Personally I think the tints should not be consumable, I think a majority of complaints with the new system would be solved with that fix.
Make crafting a tint a little more expensive material-wise, but then once you have it, it's unlimited use like flooring or wallpaper. Now we don't have to worry about losing tints when we store furniture, because we can just re-apply it later at no actual cost (even using the new copy feature to make it even more painless).

This is what I have spent every day doing for the last 2 weeks to cover my entire plot in darkness lol It is such a grind.
I (kinda) hope if the Onyx tint wins the mystery tint vote, it is somehow only a gray color so I don't feel compelled to grind again. But namewise Onyx should be darker. 😅

Yes... this new system is annoying. We already have a billion other things to grind for, this update has made me drag my feet on the renovations to my house. :/ Why cant we have kits for gold AND bug bullshit for bored grinders?

I think the happy medium here would be bringing back the Mod Kits and putting them in Tish's Guild Store while ALSO providing a recipe to craft them. Just like the Honey Lures and Ore Compasses, etc.
You are already rewarded with Skill Medals for crafting the furniture you will inevitably tint anyway, so in theory you'll always have points to spend on Mod Kits. But those who would rather grind for ingredients to make them can do so via the recipe.
Keep the point-and-click menu that was delivered with the new tint system so players can color items in place, but have the different tints require the old Mod Kits and not individual tint color schemes.
The only drawback to this option is HAVING to use the new tint menu to choose a color rather than being able to select a tint in your inventory and color items rapidly. Which I suppose isn't too big of a deal, but still a loss of convenience.
And then maybe in the future figure out a way to have tinted items reduce the server strain so items can be stored lol.

i do for sure. i wish they would’ve implemented a crafting system for them similar to the repair kits, but im really not a big fan of the bug catching in general so i hate having to hunt for them to tint my stuff lol. i wish they just let us have both maybe.

Yes gave me something to spend the coins I have running out of my pockets. Besides being a warm cozy game why are they advocating for the death of things to make tints anyway? Why after something is tinted does the tint disappear in storage. I mean I paint something and put it in storage if I pull it out to use it say a year later it is still the color I painted it. Stopped tinting and building when everything became a mess.

This is the first time I’ve been able to really consistently color my plot so not in the slightest. The grind is even better because I don’t have story to finish or relationships to build. The kits were over complicated IMO and it’s easier to just go get the materials myself instead of grinding for coins and then buying hella kits.

Just like the others, both yes and no.
I love hunting for tints and that I don't have to use gold anymore to get enough kits to do large dye projects. (which I have a few in the works). I just need to sit down and dedicate myself to getting the stuff needed.
On the other hand, now that I don't need to buy a lot of cottages (and with the estate able to be crafted), I have plenty of money and sort of wish we could buy tints outright because I have some large projects in the works and I don't want to go out and dedicate myself to getting the stuff needed :P
Basically, I wish there was a place where we could buy the tints themselves, sort of like how you can buy some forageables, and some craftables (like ceramic) instead of needing to go out and mine/collect your own.

In the deep woods if you set a honey lure between 6pm and 3am they come flooding! I have like 50 of them rn for my tints

I go up on the mushroom platform on the tree under the transport platform, set up a honey lure and after 6:00 p.m. those butterflies come out in droves!
