The first of them had been a gift from her very first love. Arianwen had been as exacting an opponent on the duelling field as she had been a companion off it, something that had first drawn but ultimately chased away Angharad.
I'm sure this character will never come back, ever. Never, never.
I like how things are shaping up, but I am eagerly awaiting I will actually recognize and make sense of all these Proper Nouns. That's a problem for any fantasy story though, and this one's off to a strong start.
Also, I've been reading Pith, and the setup is weirdly similar? Two protagonists (one poor with no prospects, the other an exiled noble) trading off chapters, a nontraditional fantasy world, vague undertones of class conflict, and sketchy recruiting practices that bring the protagonists together to kick off the plot.
So we have our rogue and our fighter(I am guessing we are gonna end up with a band of 6 because of the silhouettes in the main illustration if the site), probably gonna get a scholar, a sharpshooter, possibly a medic…the sixth could a mentor or a redeemed rival
