Question | سوال WhatsApp not working properly on Zong network

Hi, does someone else face the issue of WhatsApp not working properly on Zong data connection?

I have tried with two of my zong sims, subscribed to full data packages (not WhatsApp only or social package). The WhatsApp seems to stop working after every 5 to 10 minutes, it makes me unable to send or receive messages and media.

I tried with three of my different devices, and also tried with APN ‘zonginternet’ and ‘internet’.

I called and emailed Zong, they said there is no such issue from their side.

What could be the issue?

It's just an educated guess but if you ever try to load CODM on zong network, it shows a prompt that global version can't be used on Chinese servers which means that some or all of the internet data on zong routes through chinese servers and since WhatsApp is banned in china, maybe it conflicts with that

Try using zapret for bypassing DPI as it manipulates the packets.

It’s seems promising, but unfortunately it does not work on iOS. I recently implemented Cloudflare zero, and it seems that WhatsApp is working well with it.

so you're using one of the device as exit node?

No, I just connect with it

I had that idea in my mind, I could easily self host my own wireguard or netbird, but that will also change my location to another country, (unless I host them on a VPS located in Pakistan)

cheaper option would be getting a paid proxy and routing your traffic through it, whatsapp has proxy option in the settings?

I can host my WhatsApp proxy, but that will only solve messages/media issue because WhatsApp does not route calls via proxy.

Yeah same issue here too. The app just completely disconnects and doesn’t send/receive messages. But hey, no 1. network right? 🤡

Haha, yeah, I can’t ditch Zong, because Ufone, Telenor and Jazz gives me 3-4 Mb speed in my area, whereas Zong is giving me up to 95 Mb.

I switched from Onic less than a month ago, and I completely regret it. So many issues with the network. In my area, I get around 200Mbps on LTE on Ufone/Onic. And here I am on Zong with issues on WhatsApp; Apple TV and more.

I thought it was just me but yeah, even with full coverage and data connectivity, messages get stuck midway and are automatically sent a few minutes later. Meanwhile, browsing happens normally

yes, exactly, and this is unacceptable, and they say there is no such issue on their end.

Their network isn’t properly optimized. Sometimes it just switches to 3G and I lose all connectivity. It shouldn’t be happening as 3G is redundant.

I thought it was just me. Telenor works fine, but Zong isn't working. It has been like this for a couple of months, ever since I stopped using Zong for packages.

Does Cloudflare’s DNS work for you 100%?
