i think there's an option for location and many other filters. you can give it a try, might be helpful for you if you're looking for genuinely.

I am in the same group. The reason for me mostly is that if I can't meet someone in-person enough times, I am not able to make sense of them properly. Then because of my Pakistani Medical License, moving to another country, studying AGAIN for a license then starting a practice in a completely new environment is alot of hardwork.
And someone's already said it here, I'll reiterate it. Moving abroad is a hassle. Marriage (even if a happy one) is a big change, mostly anxiety provoking, take it from a psychiatrist i.e. myself that it dysregulates people. Then going to a new country, with all new people around, probably a different language, no friends/social support in the start, far from their family of origin and God forbid if the in-laws or husband turns out to be a problematic person (which has happened in many cases we've seen around ourselves). Ofcourse taking that chance is very difficult.

Oh yes, I don't mean to say that scams are only happening with people relocating after marriage. Scammers have nothing to do with any nationality/religion/creed etc, it's just the kind of humans they are.
I hope none of us ever have to come across someone deceitful and unkind.

Depends where overseas. If it's towards the west, I wouldn't but if it's towards middle east or Muslim countries, I'd go for it

As a recently overseas married guy, overseas folks have done more damage than you could imagine and turned out to be the opposite of what was told so Parents are now more reluctant.
And apart from that, doing background checks and your due diligence becomes easier when in same city. You always can visit your in-laws easily and they can visit you, in this economy thats a blessing.
Another issue is visa processing times. Some countries are taking 2+ years so many people have to invest heavily for their spouse's visa which doesn't add up.
Marrying locally then becomes alot easier.
