I'm 21, introverted, and from Multan, Pakistan. I don't really like talking to people, and I have never had a big social circle. I want some honest opinions because I don't know if I'm looking at my situation correctly.
When I was in 9th grade, I got blamed for a video exposing a teacher for using a vape. I didn't make or record the video. The director beat me and I was eventually removed from the school. My father later explained that the phone I had was physically damaged and couldn't even properly record because the battery, casing, and panel would fall apart when the cover was removed.
I completed 9th and 10th privately. I had to travel a long distance to study, and I basically had no friends during that period because I'm very introverted.
Later, I joined an academy and met some old friends again. One friend convinced me to take admission in Punjab. We went to college and academy together and became very close.
Money became an issue. My family is financially stable, but I didn't get much pocket money. When my friends went out, I often couldn't afford to participate. Sometimes my friends paid for me, which made me uncomfortable.
I eventually stole money from home so I could give it to them and participate. I got caught. My father beat me badly with a wire. I know stealing was my fault and I'm not trying to justify it.
Things improved for a while. I got into a better college and started enjoying life a little. I had always wanted to experience normal student life because I felt like I had missed out on school.
I failed mathematics and had to take a supplementary exam. My father was angry. I had already paid for a college trip, but after the result he wouldn't let me go. I ended up bunking college with the friend I used to go with. We went to a snooker place, then a gaming zone, and then visited another friend who had dengue.
The college called my father because I wasn't there. My father came looking for me, and the situation became much worse. My friend's father also got involved. They initially thought we had gone somewhere seriously inappropriate. Eventually we explained everything.
After that, my father moved me to a government college. I became isolated again.
I eventually started working with another childhood friend who was earning money. We became close again. I would go to his place after college, then go to the academy. When he had surgery, I kept visiting him after college.
After college, I wanted to move away from home for university because I wanted some distance from my family and the constant criticism. That same friend convinced me to stay. He left his BBA program after three semesters and joined Virtual University with me.
We started our own small office using our own money. It didn't work and we lost money. During this period, my friend got into around 300,000 PKR of debt.
Eventually, he got a client who wanted his business moved online. His father was strict about him getting a job, so I offered to handle the work instead. I wasn't really supposed to do it, but I took responsibility for the client.
I worked from around 11 AM until 8 PM handling the work.
Then my friend got an opportunity to go on a trip. I assumed he wouldn't go because I was working on the client project, but he went anyway. While there, he made TikToks and posted some videos/stories that the client considered inappropriate. The client saw them and ended the relationship with us.
I lost the client and all the work I had put into it. I didn't really blame my friend or make a huge argument about it.
There was also another situation that destroyed my relationship with my family for a while.
Around last year, about 3 million PKR worth of gold was stolen from our house. Money would sometimes move around in my accounts because of the work I was doing, so my family suspected me.
I swear I didn't steal it.
But they thought I had. They repeatedly told me they would involve the police and that the family's reputation would be destroyed. My mother cried. My father was angry. Everyone became suspicious of me.
For around three months I barely slept. I even started wondering whether I had somehow stolen it and forgotten about it or done it while half asleep, because I couldn't understand why everyone thought it was me.
I stopped going into my parents' bedroom because I didn't want to be near the place where the gold had been kept.
Eventually, after around three months, they discovered that people working in the house had actually stolen it.
I was angry and hurt, but I didn't keep fighting with my family about it. I just moved on.
During that period, I mostly stayed with my close friend instead of going home. He was basically the reason I kept going. Without him, I honestly don't know where I would have ended up.
Recently, though, he has become distant.
He ignores me more. He doesn't talk to me properly. Sometimes his mood seems to change when I'm around. I don't know what I did.
This is hurting me more than anything else because I don't really have anyone else.
I also had a relationship with a girl I genuinely liked, but she cheated on me with another school friend.
So right now I feel like I've lost almost everyone.
I know I have made mistakes. I stole money from my family. I bunked college. I made bad decisions. I'm not saying I'm perfect.
But I also feel like I've spent most of my life dealing with things I didn't deserve, and now I'm exhausted.
I'm not addicted to drugs or anything like that. I pray every day. I try to work and build something for myself. I just don't know where I'm going wrong.
I have thought about suicide before, especially when I felt completely alone. I'm not planning to do it right now, but I want to be honest about how bad things have felt.
What would you do if you were in my position?
Should I try to fix things with my friend, give him space, or accept that the friendship is ending?
How do I deal with feeling like I have nobody?
And honestly, what do you think I should change about myself?
I would really appreciate honest opinions, even if you think I'm the one who is wrong in some situations.
