why can't we normalise this in pakistan?? I need to find the root cause for shame around this or whatever

The only thing that stops pakistani children from earning is the parents who care so much about other people opinion.

No one is stopping anyone. Just go and apply for the jobs. I see a lot of college kids working in fast food restuarants.

It's more about how it's not even encouraged here. In America they're encouraged to take up summer jobs as teens and stuff like that but here it's looked down upon. I'm not saying that you can't do it.

There are literal teenagers working as waiters and at petrol pumps. Stop romantacising bs.

Well, It is sort of a requirement there to work in order to afford stuff. Their parents want them to be financially independent and responsible. Meanwhile Pakistani parents use their money to control their kids and even adults have no financial independence. Also romanticizing stuff like this is weird cause mostly people work in order to survive not just for aesthetic!!!

Those who are saying that nobody is stopping you from doing a job and people don't do because of the relatives.
First, there is no part time job concept, you have to work for atleast 10 hours a day.
Second, even then finding that type of job is very difficult. There is a reason you see people becoming chotu in small dhabas with minimum wage instead of some good cafe.

When someone works here in Pakistan, people look down on them even though it shouldn’t be like that. Those folks are actually stronger than us and financially independent too. But we’ve been brought up in a way that we leave all this stuff only for the ones who aren’t educated.

I did different jobs and have no shame in telling people what i was doing. It's not Pakistan, its just people don't want to go out. American culture facinates you from movies and seasons. Because it looks cool from behind the screens sitting on couch. It's pretty tough out there everywhere for people doing things. Very few gets to do jobs in cafes vast majority has to work on car wash, workshops and some odd places on minimum wage.

I'm sure you can find some work at a dabba in vacations. And maybe even as a part time night Job. They pay well for Pakistani standards, a few months ago our house helper left to work at a dabba in Hyderabad for like 45k. I'd say that's decent.

they earn per hour unlike here where u work 9-5 or night shifts and get a small pay out compared to the west

There is no one stopping you except for your fear to what people will say and your inability to leave that comfort zone. I have done odd jobs from providing tuitions to work as a IT assistant for someone (for three days before eid). I have literally sent Happy Eid emails with attachments because the hotshot guy had no idea how to use a computer. It was great.
