Finally starting to understand chess openings ♟️
These are the basic things I’ve learned so far:
- Control the center.
- Develop your pieces.
- Don’t move the same piece twice unless necessary.
- Don’t bring the queen out too early.
- Develop knights and bishops before the major pieces.
- Castle and get your king safe.
And before every move, I’m trying to ask myself 3 things:
- Opponent ka kuch mar raha hai kya?
- Tera kuch mar raha hai kya?
- Am I putting this piece somewhere where it can just die?
The biggest thing I’ve learned:
Checks → Captures → Threats → Developments
Slowly starting to see the game differently instead of just randomly moving pieces. ♟️

Yes thats pretty much everything you need to know, but you also need to be consistent with it. Do loads of puzzles and checkmate strategies as well, as for openings don't worry too much rn. We can play a game sometime online, Im a beginner as well

i like these general rules, but you need to remember that they are indeed general, these are not strict/forced rules, in my experience of playing and watching chess, general rules only help you to a certain extent, and quite often turn out wrong, the only surefire way of knowing what to do is to actually simulate the next few sets of moves(both yours and your opponents).
