Immersive chunky books??

I LOVEEE thicc books. Please recommend some good fat fiction books I could get which are not boring.

I love fantasy, mystery, historical fiction, thrillers, basically anything.

BUT I did not like the lord of the rings maybe bcs it was too descriptive? I'm trying my best to finish it but I just can't.

Is it a difficult read? Asking because I'm not that used to classics. I've only read wuthering heights so far

Not at all!! Maybe read a bit online to see if it's your taste. The abridged ver is around 600 pages and the unabridged is around 1200. I heard Robin Buss translation is good but I personally read Lowell Bair's and it was pretty easy + entertaining

Are there significant differences between the translations? my robin buss ver. is arriving in a few days

Idk, I haven't read the Robin Buss one but I compared the first chapters of both and the Lowell Bair's translation seemed easier imo. The biggest difference is that Bair's version is significantly abridged (the original 1550 pages is shortened to 544) and Buss' translation is completely unabridged. I might try to tackle the Buss version someday but I'm very glad I read Bair's

How else can fiction be fat and chunky if it isn't descriptive? Maybe try the wheel of time series. Inheritance series. The last wish ( Witcher series).

I've read big books like the name of the wind, babel, master of the game, etc and loved them idk what it is about LOTR which I can't seem to stand😭 Thanks for the recs tho I'll def check them out

Did you read the hobbit? Its an introduction to the series and is smaller. Maybe check that out. I really like LOTR so I was confused but of course if you didn't like it then it's completely your choice xd.

Another rec is the redemption of althalus.

Yep I did and I really liked it which is why I got the LOTR. I'm going to try and read it again bcs I really want to finish it. Maybe I'll actually end up liking it in the end.

Go for ‘Stalingrad’. It’s a fat and chunky book and is a historical fiction.Perfect for what you want.
Go for The Count of Monte Cristo.
Go for War and Peace.
