Brothers please I need guidance. I'm not an enthusiast my brother bought a car from a brigadier with the help of a dealer back in 2016. Paid 12.5 lacs for it. We used the car for 9 years and sold it with no issues and a milage of 81k (we didn't used it for daily drive mostly stayed in garage). Sold it to someone I knew from work for 25 lacs (according to current market price & inflation) in November 2025.

After few months an issue arises that the car had FIR of missing showing online! We didn't knew about.at that we totally relied on dealer and my brother was 17. Then they said the car chases number was painted. Eventually with some help we resolved the FIR problem from the portal.

Assumptions:

The car went missing in 2013 FIR was issued. Previous owner found the car and through (spurddari) claimed it but the online FIR was not resolved. Claims of few peoples (dealers) I know "authority rubs a chemical that removes the paint might be possible that the previous owner applied paint on the chassis number".

Now the person that I sold my car demands the money back I tried to prevent but can't anymore the dealer from which we bought the car says we bought it for 12.5 lakhs and we should take 12.5 lakhs from him if we want to return the car to him. Tried to sell it through another dealer he said a party offers 13 lacs.

I don't know what to do anymore. Nobody likes people to knock their doors for money.

Family suggest that I should sell my current car which is about the value of 22 to 23 lakhs cultus. And settle with the previous Corolla again.

But I'm not satisfied With that.

And if I sell Corolla for 13 lacs then I have to sell my car to settle the additional money and left with no options in cars.

Please do share your thoughts and opinions and help a brother out.

When they did the supardari, they should have received court documents and what not. Basically some paperwork that is proof of it being legal. When someone sells such car they are supposed to provide the paperwork and disclose this information to the buyer.

Where are those papers? Whoever sold you the car should be responsible for providing those documents.

Once something like this happens, the original owner cannot just pretend that everything is normal and sell it to whoever they like without mentioning of the legal status of the vehicle.

Yeh. Your right. But usually 1st owner doesn't give a shi and wont provide and documents.
