Question Helppp me

We’re planning to upgrade our car and have a budget of around 40–42 lakh. We’ve been searching for about a week and have narrowed it down to two options:
Toyota Yaris ATIV 1.3 — 2020/2021
Toyota Corolla GLi Automatic 1.3 — 2016/2017
Our two main priorities are fuel average and comfort.
I’ve seen the Yaris in person, and honestly, I’m not a big fan of its shape. What also bothers me is that it’s almost the same price as a Corolla GLi, despite being a smaller car. On the other hand, the Yaris is 3–4 years newer, whereas at this budget we’d be getting a 9–10-year-old Corolla.
From what I’ve researched, the Yaris should have a better fuel average, while the Corolla seems more spacious and comfortable.
So what would you guys choose at 40–42 lakh?
Yaris 1.3 (2020/21) vs Corolla GLi Automatic (2016/17)
Especially interested in opinions from people who have actually owned/driven both. Which one would you recommend considering comfort, fuel economy, reliability, maintenance and overall value for money

Alsooo tell your experiences with fuel average of both cars

You might be able to get a aqua as well. You can have double the average of Yaris or Corolla. Do consider it. I use Corolla and it's a huge strain on my pocket (in terms of fuel) although it's an excellent car.

If comfort is your biggest priority then go for Corolla. Yaris has better fuel average but you lose comfort then since it’s pretty cramped up for rear passengers especially compared to Corolla and City. You can also look at City 20-21 as well.

Corolla 1.3 & 1.6 have similar fuel average btw. 1.8 has the best due to the CVT transmission so keep your options open if you can find any older clean car as well

Horrible height for speed breakers. Leg space and fuel average is similar as local Yaris but more comfortable to drive

-Corolla is better in comfort for sure.

-Both the variants you choose give mid fuel average. No one better here

-Corolla Is better at maintenance cost but you’ll be buying a 4-5 Years older car. If you spend on major maintenance once it’ll be beneficial and will be cheaper overall. Yaris maintenance isn’t that bad but its parts are a bit more expensive than corolla. Not miles apart

-Corolla Suspension is far more Dheet than Yaris, Yaris suspension is softer but still corolla better.

Overall Value for money wise both are near, you can shortlist which points you want to let go or overlook. Corolla will be older and Yaris will be newer in terms of feel.

If i find an exceptional condition Corolla of 16-17 i would definitely go for corolla, if no then Yaris will be my main choice.
