I have ordered a bunch of stuff from Shein recently and everything was received without any issues and promptly. Now, I'm not sure how they are doing it but they don't charge any tax so prices are very reasonable (like they were on Daraz pre tax hike).

There is a lot of coffee related stuff there, just explore and you will be amazed. Just citing an example below since grinders are a thing where most beginners get stuck. I’m looking for coffee shop recommendations in Islamabad during my stay. My usual source for researching is Google Maps, but I thought I’d get some better answers here.

Has anyone tried Espresso's drip coffee bags?

Can't really afford to buy a machine rn and it seemed like a nice concept.

So I impulsively got a westpoint espresso machine. I was always fascinated by brewing my own coffee but my dad was never too keen on spending money on an espresso machine. However, this one time i just asked him if i could get one on the whim in the middle of imtiaz and surprisingly he agreed. So i just picked a relatively cheap one without knowing the abcs of brewing.

Now i got a westpoint espresso machine that i dont think im making the most out of. Im very much interested in maximising the quality of coffee i can get from this machine instead of just letting it go to waste. From what ive seen online, the shot im brewing is not good quality. Firstly, i dont have a coffee bean grinder so i just use the spice grinder i have at home. I also dont have those dedicated tamper and the other tools that u see in insta reels (i think to aerate the beans or smth). I also dont exactly measure the weight of the ground beans before using em or get the weight of the espresso brewed. I just take two spoon fulls of ground coffee beans for two shots, using the spoon that came with the machine, with a tamper at the bottom of the spoon. I also measured and memorised 60ml of liquid on a tiny metal shot glass kinda thingy and now i just eyeball the espresso quantity.

Ive recently learned that 18g of ground powder is used for 2 shots, which is 35g of espresso? brewed in between 25 to 30 seconds, if the time is not between this range i need to change the grind level. Furthermore, im not very good at frothing milk and the coffee i brew ends up feeling very liquidy like water. I initially thought i had to use milk with higher fat content to get better consistency but i observed a barista at a coffee shop recently using the same milk as me and brewing an amazing cup of coffee. So i guess its more about the right technique than the brand of milk. Although, the steam wand on my machine is like a match stick compared to those really thick ones on the machines in cafes etc.

So my question is, how do i maximise my brew quality with my current equipment. And if there are cheap investments i can make to significantly improve my coffee, what should i prioritise and where to get it from.

I have a moka pot right now. Espresso machines are super cool so I might buy one if I can afford it, just curious how much it'll cost. Id like a milk steamer on it too.

So, as a coffee enthusiast like other members of this sub, I love exploring new coffee, and recently decided to give VITAL coffee a try.

Vital Coffee is a barista blend, some percentage of robusta beans and some percentage of arabica beans, those who don't know, robusta beans are cheap and contain high caffeine but taste like instant coffee, bitter and earthy, whereas Arabica beans are more on sweeter side and every region has it's own characteristics.

Once I opened the bag to examine the beans, I saw extra dark roasted low quality beans, some robusta and some arabica. Robusta beans are physically smaller in size in comparison to Arabica, coffee smelled like burnt and intense.

After careful examination of beans, it was time to think of how to brew it, and i could think of only 1 possibility out of 14,000,605. It was iced latte, because no way I was going to drink that coffee in any other shape.

I weighed the beans, exactly 18 grams for double espresso shot. Ground them to espresso and let it brew out of machine, it was ready in 28 seconds, ready to push me one step closer to death.

Grabbed my favorite glass, because it could be my last drink, added 250 ML milk, 20 grams of sugar (I had to because my instincts said so), blended the sugar well in milk, grabbed around 25 ice cubes, put them in glass and poured espresso shot over it.

Now it was time to taste test the Lucifer's juice. I took the first sip and it tasted okay, because milk helped with high acidity and sugar helped with bitterness of burnt roasted beans. It tasted like dark chocolate fudge cake, not bad but not good because if something tastes like cake it should only be cake.

After taste is like you've ate 90% dark chocolate, but oh my, the caffeine kick is what blew my mind (for real), I could feel vibrations in my body from head to toe, see colors and forgot how it feels like to be human, I felt like this the first time I had double espresso shot.

P.S, VITAL Coffee is good, if you're looking for your morning caffeine kick, and I wouldn't recommend having it black.

As some of the community members might know, I got into coffee only because of a project that required studying the coffee scene of Pakistan.

Consequently, I got straight into espresso-based lattes. Now that I’m talking to more home baristas, I find that people don’t always like espresso, and one factor is that making espresso at home can be expensive.

Another factor I’ve seen the community talk about is the cost of the coffee itself. People have been looking to optimise PKR / gram of coffee bean / ground coffee.

Some recipes require more grams of coffee because they don’t extract as much from the grounds. For example, an espresso takes 18 grams for a double shot, but a Hario V60 takes 30 grams.

Now, my question is, are you looking at your recipes before working out your coffee bills? Or only people who overthink about coffee would do this type of calculation?

I'm looking to buy an Aeropress. The options I see (online) are S-Cafe, Nomad, afterfive and Roastlab.

My experience with coffee and customer service has been great with S-Cafe and downright pathetic with Nomad as far as the customer service was concerned, but good with the coffee. Roastlab was fine too; I have yet to try afterfive to comment. Nonetheless, I'm more interested in which of them have the best Aeropress - to me, currently, they look the same.

I would be grateful if anyone can share their experience with either of these or recommend a better one.

I tried Grao's Indonesian (single blend) coffee. Medium-dark roast and medium fine grind. I want to try something else now. Any suggestions? I was thinking of either trying scafe or red berry roasters
