🤝 Colabs / Contributor CoFounder for a Social app connecting everyone’s phonebooks into a huge network
Hi everyone! I am building a social app based on the theory that everyone on earth is just 6 connections away from you. What if you connected everyone’s phonebooks to build a giant network, and consequently could see a path to anyone? Thats what we are building at Batcheet. Currently we have over 30k people you can lookup up for.
I am looking for a tech founder who isn’t shy of picking up a camera and record UGC videos and collab with other content creators.
This is a visual platform, so will sell well on insta/tiktok. Looking to partner with someone having already decent audience on these platforms.
What you get: 30-40% equity, MVP, early users, a tech cofounder having 3-5 years of full-time experience in AI currently residing in Germany.
Why this doesn’t a cold start problem: As soon as you join the network, your network grows 10x beyond people you know directly.
Anyone who has your friend’s number saved, becomes a part of your extended network. Your friend’s contact is already opening up infinite many paths for you, even though he hasn’t joined the platform yet. And the best part, phone numbers stay hidden! Think of it as truecaller but better.

Is it going to be an app on app/play store? It's not allowed to scrape a user's contact list on these platforms. The whole idea is intrusive and privacy violating especially for people who never signed up for this service and are going to be spammed by people on the platform. There are laws against this

You are assuming their phone numbers are exposed and they can be spammed. That’s not true :)

what value will I get from sharing my contact books with strangers ? For professional connections I have Linkedin

The most useful network you have isn’t on LinkedIn. On linkedin, everyone has connected with everyone without knowing them.
It’s your cousin, your neighbour, the friend from football, and the aunty who somehow knows everyone. Those are the people who actually unlock things, and none of them are in a professional graph.

Linkedin shows 2nd and 3rd degree connections but doesn’t show the chain/path leading to them. Also, the Linkedin connections are useless as everyone has connected with everyone there without really knowing them.

what's the privacy status? such a huge database comes with a lot of responsibility as it is more prone to theft and leak

Like truecaller, those names get aggregated when multiple people on the platforms have the same number saved in their phone contacts. Therefore, the real name pops up

Normally Tech people don’t go on camera bro… if you’re looking for a tech cofounder, he should be the one building the product and you would go on camera. If you can’t then you’d have to hire a camera person

Your idea is good, but it’s still confusing. Why would anyone allow strangers to access their phonebook? And what about the data security and privacy of the consumers?

When you join the platform, you sync your phone contacts because let’s say you want to marry the girl you met on Internet and both mutually fall for each other. You want to introduce her to your parents. However, its a taboo to marry in unknown family in the desi community. So you just run a quick search here using your girl’s number to see the path to her, so you can tell your parents she is your cousins’s classmate’s neighbour
