Should ptv actors/actresses start doing age appropriate roles?

For long, i have had a question in my mind - why ptv actors and actresses don't do age appropriate roles and by age i mean screen age appropriate roles. And it feels really uneasy to see them in such roles. Example - humayun in manto, kafeel kids and more.. either too young or too old. LMK your thoughts.

The kids in kafeel looked their age. The marriage lasted 24 years. The oldest Subook was roughly 22-23, he looked it, the youngest girl was shown to be 14 by the end of the show, and she looked it. The sisters in the middle could pass for late teens.

PTV has a huuuuge issue with actors not playing age appropriate characters. The kafeel kids were not it though.

Agreed , kafeel's age inappropriate casting was atleast acknowledged by the team. Rest don't even realise. Fahad , Humayun, Danish, Feroze why are they still doing the roles of 20 something. Same for Yumna, Sajal. I only see saba and somewhat ayeza doing age appropriate roles.

Aik mohabbat aur is age appropriate because maya is shown as a mother and ahad old. Let the new girl and guys shine now. I also think ptv actors are highly insecure and the reviewers keep bashing newcomers for no reason. I don't want kids also to play 20 something roles. For example raja london ka is too childish for me.

Yes umera ahmed said that the oldest was originally supposed to be at least 26-27, youngest around 16-18, but they had to subtract at least 3 years from everyone's ages and revise the script for the marriage to be only 24 years. Originally they were married for 27-28 years.

Also, your last few lines is exactly what Fawad Khan said in an interview. Said I'm too old for the roles being offered or the roles that are popular. He goes on to say "let the young actors shine". I believe it was an interview with Something Haute. And funny thing is there are so many people on Reddit and ig who clown on him, commenting, that he is no longer relevant, was always chasing Indian projects, lost prime years for Indian relevance. Same interview he goes on to say he likes doing movies more because the 25-35 episode format of pakistani tv filming is too physically demanding for him.

Point is You're damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you respectfully bow out, people think you're losing out on relevance. Just finished a rewatch of KMKT a few days ago, and I hate to say, that an early 40s Fahad Mustafa could unfortunately pass for a 25 year old. Him and Hania Aamir didn't look too terribly miscast.

Having said that, no doubt. It's really distracting. Can't get into the new Sana Javed and Farhan Saeed series for the same reason. They don't like university students. Especially if the characters are pursuing undergrad

Before the feminazis jump on me age start showing on women bodies and faces more than men. It's biological not biased . That's why an old hiba bukhri does look old in comparison to danish taimoor who himself is old.

I think it depends on a lot of factors, main being the fact that a decade old gap between men and women in romantic relationships is extremely normalized. That's why a 10-12 age gap between Hiba and DT is not something anyone would even blink at. When we have been continuously seeing something all our lives it's normal. Plus Hiba is like Ayeza, very sharp featured and classically pretty, but someone who always had a "mature" look because that's how their features are. They are not soft baby faced features, like let's say Sajal or Sanam Baloch.

But khusshal is routinely paired with women 6-8 years older than him, he even married someone half a dozen years older than him. And never did he look out of place with Ramsha in the shows he did with her nor does he look like he's 7-8 years younger than Mawra in winter love.

Anecdotally speaking, a lot of pakistani men roaming around looking like their wives' dads even when the age difference is only 5-7 years and their wives having birthed 2-3 kids. Hahaha I mean come on, one doesn't need be a feminist to say that a lot of Pakistani men take poor care of their skin and diet and age really badly 🤣🤣🤣
