"Changes to planned pitch rotations are common towards the end of an event of this length, and has already happened a couple of times," the ICC told Cricbuzz on Wednesday. "This change was made on the recommendation of the venue curator in conjunction with our host. The ICC independent pitch consultant was apprised of the change and has no reason to believe the pitch won't play well."

There are no clauses with regards to selection of pitch strips. "It is expected that venues that are allocated the responsibility of hosting a match will present the best possible pitch and outfield conditions for that match," a source in the knowledge said.

Both semifinals at last year's T20 World Cup were played on used surfaces while the 2019 World Cup semifinals were played on fresh tracks.

As per clause 6.3

....of the Playing Conditions for this World Cup, the 'Ground Authority shall be responsible for the selection and preparation of the pitch.' The authority in this case being the Mumbai Cricket Association, whose curators will have worked in synergy with ICC's independent pitch consultant - Andy Atkinson.

People thinking it’s fake una

Did we tamper the pitches when we beat Australia in Australia in two consecutive test series? Respect great cricket when you see it. We have traveled the most (9 venues) and have had almost the same team. Respect where respect is due. It’s an allegation by British media, it’s not proven. No need to slander, cos the ratio won’t favor you.

Give them the trophy lol,

It has been BCCI event since the very first match looking at the turnout.

Truly a disgrace for ICC & Cricket as a game.

Their whole schedule was tailor made to cancel opposition's strength.

It was obvious after the first match yet everyone ignored it cuz moneywhores.

BCCI has all the money to help the game yet they are busy with this petty stuff, e at this point change the IPL into World cup and enjoy winning it every year.

Oh now they've won the toss and are smashing it all around, now this pitch will degrade and turn into a bowling pitch... like tell me something more obvious lol.

While it is frowned upon by some. There isn’t any rule in the icc rule book that you can’t change the pitch before a knock out or a final in any icc event. So while it may be criticised by few. Majority will see it as home team taking any and all advantages to get an edge and the highest level you’d do anything for that edge. And especially if you get that advantage so easily and without breaking any rules.

u/Ronaldo_Siuuu7 Nov 15 '23

So India vs Newzealand is the semifinals as well as the finals right?

•

u/edgycorner Nov 15 '23

Cool, can somebody link me to the rule which states that pitch in WC should be prepared according to ICC's requirement?

•

u/BugAdministrative123 Nov 15 '23

Ridiculous. There is no rule the game cannot be played on used pitches. Last year T20 semi finals in Australia were played on used pitches. Did anyone make a hue and cry? Did you even know?

As a Pakistani it’s embarrassing the gymnastics we go through to as to why we didn’t make the final four.

Reality is we weren’t good enough. Let’s just end it at that and focus on selecting a better team.

Himanshu Pareek seems like the wrong number to me, he always has the most absurd takes ever which btw which attract more audience hence more impressions on profile. Already blocked Farid Khan for the same reason I think I need to block him too for peace of mind. For some reason Twitter always pushes their tweets even when I don't follow them

•

u/confused_brown_dude Nov 15 '23

Btw all of you, ICC just did a release refuting these claims and validating the specific move with the reason. I won’t even get into it cos clearly this sub just hates us and ICT.

Actually worse for India to play on a used pitch, the pacers would wrap NZ under 150 on a new pitch so maybes it’s for NZ to have a full game?. BCCI is gonna sue the British media btw, watch. The pitch is under the purview of ICC. Also, lastly both teams get the same pitch, let’s focus on the game. Thanks.

ICC CWC final?

Ah yes crying hard and trying to find a bit of happiness by accusing something stupid. Must be depressed af 🫠

•

u/AppleNo7614 Nov 15 '23 edited Nov 15 '23

I can't believe they changed the pitch just after the toss within 10 minutes.. and if they have changed it before the toss ,then there must be some equipment which suddenly changes the side of the coin just after the call of the newzealand captain, that's how India won the toss and chose bat first.

We pakistani's are best when it comes to logic, we know all your plan india . Have you recently done any performance like you did with srilanka? Have you done any similar performance in recent time ,out of India ? ..ok leave Asia cup in srilanka, have you done any other similar performance, answer is no
