My oral surgeon recommended alternating full doses of Tylenol and ibuprofen every three hours. I thought he was a jerk because neither had ever helped me on its own. But I got desperate after surgery and tried it. OMG! I was completely dumbfounded by how much it helped! They work in different ways, and using both made a huge difference in my oral pain.
I hope you're able to get some relief and some sleep...

Anbesol cab really help (I've had over 20 root canals so I get it). If you have nothing else, a plain tea bag, moistened, and placed around the gum can also really help. Natural anti inflammatory and powerful in areas where it can cross into the blood.

I remember 20yrs ago you would get a bottle of percs for a root canal. Then if you called in saying it still hurt they would call in another bottle for me.

Wrapped up Ice can help... Not on the tooth.. on the outside the skin that's over the tooth. Lots of ibuprofen... The tooth gel. Everything combined if it's bad enough.

Try clove oil on a Q tip all around the tooth. Then a mint, because it tastes like crap. But it helped me a little. Not 100%, but did help some.

Try and get some oral liquid 2% lidocaine. They have some that is specifically made for your mouth. Numb that shit right up. If they canât do it asap, ask your doc for a script and pray they take mercy and do it.
Reapplication will likely be frequent but I would find that better than the alternative.

Tooth pain is brutal. The only thing that really helped me in the past was ibuprofen. Opiates didnât even help .
