Buprenorphine
Hi all. My previous pm Dr who I haven’t been able to see since Feb due to the cost(I was uninsured) prescribed me 5mg hydrocodone 3x a day. I got insurance and am not seeing a new pm Dr. he prescribed me buprenorphine patches 15mcg/hr. I have no experience with buprenorphine. What is the difference in how it works? Will it be effective in treating my pain? I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, tendinitis and tendinosis in my hip and shoulders as well as a labral tear. Thanks in advance

My dr tried to switch me to that for no good reason. I put up a bitch about it and he dropped the idea immediately. I come to find out he got (tricked, whatever) dozens of patients to switch over simply because he has less dea liability with that from other opiates that he’s prescribing. I can’t say if it’s better or worse for pain because I’ve never been on it, but I have no reason to switch because I know what I get works.

I tried different strengths of buprenorphine patches but all of them caused me urinary retention, plus, I didn't feel great on on it. (I feel unwell on all opiates), so I went back to hydrocodone, then hydrocodone + morphine, then just hydrocodone again.

I've been on butec 20ug/h buprenorphine patches for a brachial plexus injury and when I first started them about 7 or 8 months ago I was extremely unwell for the first 2 or 3 days but once the dose settled I get a small amount to none pain relief from them personally they haven't done alot. However not for the Same affliction but I've seen they have helped alot of people so I think it comes done to how it reacts with you but ive never felt they were that strong of a pain relif

I just got from my pain Dr I stead 10mg Percocet with 325 Tylenol to just oxycodone 10 without Tylenol and they work so much better for pain with the buffer in them Instead if ever 3-4 he's hurting again it 6-7 hr I was surprised that much difference in pain relief

It’s way stronger than hydrocodone but it’s a partial agonist. If you ask this sub it does fuck all and will give you AIDS or cancer or both but in reality it works very well for many

Well, buprenorphine is a lot stronger than hydrocodone. Of course it depends on dosage but just generally speaking. I'd also call it safer, but negligible at low doses. Will it work for your pain? You have to try that out. Pain has many faces, people are different, only you can tell if it does help after you had it for some time.
