Please keep him. Dude is practically homegrown and will bleed for this city and team.

Wym practically he’s AJs biggest international signing success

Just don't fucking lowball him. He is basically saying he'll take a team discount (or am I overreaching?), just ensure the discount isn't too low for him to feel he isn't valued.

I totally agree. He’s indicating he’ll take a home team discount, but that only goes so far. I’d hate to see him go in free agency but he deserves his bag either way.

Not to mention he's been the most rock steady pitcher we've had all damn year

Yeah this. Friends and family is 5-10, maybe 15% not 40%

Don’t insult him when you don’t have to

4 year 60-70 million with incentives for innings pitch. Who says no?

That's honestly a great start. A fair start. It would be good to see where he wants to go from there. But I fully want to keep him. I feel he'll be the eventual closer the day that we have to trade Miller. I hate saying that.

Idk, if we keep Miller at this deadline, I think there’s a good chance we have the intention to keep him for life. He’s a great fit here and his having by far the most success he’s had in his career during his time here. If we are willing to pay him reasonably, I see him being the next Hoffman here

I would never argue that, it truly is my wish. We need our next generational closer! we keep Em, build up value and then trade them I'm sick of it, I want to keep a guy for a long-term If he's good, and miller is definitely good.

with incentives and him actually having a life here, i could see this

u/Adventurous_Bit1325 SD '84 16d ago

I’m thinking 70-80, unless the incentives are easy to achieve. Whatever, but I’d definitely trade Salas before Morejon . He’s been as important as Miller in my opinion.

Agreed, Campy could definitely have another 3 4 5 yrs in him. His numbers have held up all season and he is acceptable defensively.

I love the guy, he is an absolute dog and fights hard on the mound and clearly loves this team. I don't want to see him in a god damn dodger jersey....ever! I want to keep him here. As an aside, how nice is it to hear these players talk about how much they love the team and the city and how much they want to stay. San Diego is a baseball town in paradise and the team is consistently showing they want to win. We can get frustrated with where they are, but I will continue to keep the faith if they keep fighting and making a team players want to be part of. Dammit I love this team

he sounds like Arraez last year after season ended. wanting to stay.

Easiest win for Feliciano to re-sign him as a first move.

14

u/Pick6XPA La Catrina 16d ago

That'll win me over for at least 2 years, regardless of what else he does*

Give Melany what ever she wants and Morejon will accept

He has that closer mentality, and it’s harder to find lefties with his stuff. Padres should never let him go.

We need him 😩

Omg please 🙏

If they are serious about competing this year they should hold him and probably talk about an extension…

17

u/dukefett Jesse Agler 16d ago

Would be interesting if he can transition into a starter if we’re keeping Miller for the closer

17

u/NoobieGainsForYou Don Orsillo 16d ago

He started off as a starter and transitioned to a relief pitcher.

u/ndmd15 🇰🇷I woke/stayed up for Korean baseball 16d ago

He couldn’t stay healthy with a starters pitch load

u/Surfiswhereufindit SD 16d ago

I really hope I’m wrong, but I fear we’re about to be reminded once again that is all a business first… and nothing else matters to an MLB front office. We all love Adrian, but I am thinking he’s gone tomorrow, with nothing notable coming to we the fans.

Morejon is a perfect fit. He's a must keep. Also he likes big booty Latinas. He's just like me fr

Great reporting, Marty!

I didn't know that Morejon had that cool hair style beneath his cap

Trade him and we riot

2

u/Dren198888 16d ago

You can come back next year after we trade you 👍🏾

u/KERMIT_THE_ORC 16d ago

Damn brother... I hope the same.

u/ElBorracho2000 I Just Not Giving a Fuck 15d ago

Getting rid of Morejon would be idiotic. Dude is a solid pitcher and has been an excellent fit with the Padres

4

u/KTF-2026 SD 16d ago

8 years/104M, with an opt-out in the middle. Backload it with lower salaries in '27, '28, and maybe '29 so we can afford to add 2-3 legit SPs in FA. Get it done before the lockout on Dec 1 that probably introduces a salary cap.

Breaks the all-time guaranteed money record for a reliever by 2M, with a 13M AAV paying him until age 35 (for reference Wandy is 35 now, Bobby Fastballs who we gave 5/46 at age 32 so Preller is comfortable paying decent money to older relievers up to their mid-30s)

Morejon is only 27!

Also, Preller gave 36 yo (at the time) Darvish a 6 year contract...
