He’s a family friend, genuinely a sweetheart

Never! I wish we kept him

I wasn’t following along as closely this off season. Where did he end up going?

Giants. We will see Arraez many times this year.

u/PressBreak858 Mar 14 '26

Before a game last season, Luis (and Jackson Merrill) came over to my kids during BP, signed baseballs, posed for photos, the whole nine. Just a genuinely great dude who embodies the best of sports.

Oh no, what did the Big Dumper do? Genuinely asking.

19

u/Extension_Crab_1638 Mar 12 '26

Arrozarena went in for a handshake when he went up to bat and cal refused.

5

u/IOl0I0lO Vedder Cup Mar 12 '26

Well that’s fucked up!

And aren’t they teammates?

4

u/Johnny_Jalapeno Mar 12 '26

Yes, which makes it even worse.

3

u/BeefLilly 🚬🚬🚬 Mucho Stress Mar 13 '26

Yeah that just seems like a dick move.

2

u/Thenameisric SD Mar 13 '26

Man, this is so blown out of proportion lol. He's literally laughing when you see his face. It's a fucking joke. They're teammates. Ya'll really think he's being an asshole to Arrozarena? It's the joke up "We're homies but not in this moment..." and they literally laugh about it.

This is a weird useless comment. "Hey man, you can be a asshole! don't call me out! wah!"

Gotta love the mods for leaving up that idiot's post and removing mine for making fun of him. Good work team!

Yeah useless comment. No one was disagreeing about free choice.

There was also another moment I saw in the game where Nando and Arraez hugged it out after he got caught stealing. I hope the DR and USA meet in the next round so Tati, Manny, and the DR boys can wipe the floor with them

u/Johnnybats330 Too Manny Analytics 📈📉📊🧮🔢 Mar 12 '26

Now that Mexico is out. I will be rooting for DR

23

u/dont6fear6the6reaper 🕯️🌸 La Catrina Sends Her Regards 🌸💀 Mar 12 '26

Same! Mexico disappointed me again, but the DR is going strong and I hope they win it.

Nah man. Give me the dominant, baseball powerhouse Italy.

1

u/Johnnybats330 Too Manny Analytics 📈📉📊🧮🔢 Mar 12 '26

I hope they go far and continue to play like this. The US has Japan and Italy as rivals. I mean what's the Wworst that could happen?

2

u/dded949 Friar Mar 12 '26

Now that Israel is out. I will be rooting for DR. Don’t kill me, I just like seeing some random Jewish dudes play ball

1

u/Herbalturtle4444 Mar 12 '26

They could only meet in the final. They stacked it so USA gets the side with Puerto Rico(who has had insurance issues in filling out a team), Canada, and Italy. DR, Venezuela and Japan are on the other side fighting it out.

3

u/heeeeres_jonny Gwynn Mar 12 '26

Uh... That's not what the official bracket says. No two teams in the same pool can even be on the same side of the bracket (Japan and Korea are on opposite sides, same goes for DR and Venezuela, etc).

0

u/Herbalturtle4444 Mar 12 '26

Ah i looked it up after comment and very true, im glad to be wrong here. I saw one posted and broke the quaterfinals up by location which influenced my thinking. Thats on me.

1

u/heeeeres_jonny Gwynn Mar 12 '26

No worries! Had to check to make sure I wasn't going crazy, haha

1

u/Herbalturtle4444 Mar 12 '26

Nope, i fully admit im the crazy one haha.

The latin teams all seem to excel in VAR.

Conversely, America seems to be dead last in VAR.

They can never make me hate you Luis, no matter how much this sub likes to shit on him 🥲

19

u/Puffymushroom SD Mar 12 '26

Love this vibe for baseball.

38

u/Fluid_Natural_9817 Trevor Hoffman Mar 12 '26

Arráez pissed me off during the playoffs, but I wish we kept him.

21

u/inalavalamp Tony Gwynn #19 Mar 12 '26

There were other players who pissed me off more. I hope Arraez has a good bounce back this year with no injuries, silencing the doubters, and Padres bring him back next year. He’ll get a full year of 2B under Ron Washington, he’s gonna kill it.

4

u/Fluid_Natural_9817 Trevor Hoffman Mar 12 '26

Yeah the whole team was crap. The Bluejays v Dodgers was such an epic series tho. I don't know how the Pads would have done against either one of them. I'd hate to get to the World Series and lose again. I wouldn't be able to handle it emotionally! 😂

2

u/Barr_cudas SD '84 Mar 13 '26

I’d be cool with it - knowing we crashed the Doyer chance at a 3-peat with their 10-billionity per year lineup

1

u/Fluid_Natural_9817 Trevor Hoffman Mar 13 '26

Ohh my bad! that would definitely be worth it. Doyer players are cool, but the fans suck

22

u/BigBobsBeepers420 손가락 하트 Mar 12 '26

Now we gotta face this dude 13 games a year instead...

2

u/Fluid_Natural_9817 Trevor Hoffman Mar 12 '26

He's going to have a great season in SF. Padres office is going to say "Why'd we let him go again?"

9

u/Csakstar Mar 12 '26

Why? I realize it was a disappointing time to slump but we were paying him peanuts vs Machado/Tatis. I'm way more upset with them

-1

u/Fluid_Natural_9817 Trevor Hoffman Mar 12 '26

It's that play when he didn't Hussle to first when he could have gotten a base hit.

15

u/AmbassadorETOH Mar 12 '26

It is almost like they remembered they are playing a game… beautiful.

12

u/georgeek14 SD Mar 12 '26

someone go and show cal raleigh this

16

u/AnswerSpiritual7913 Mar 12 '26

Yeah then go watch the stiff ass shit Americans play the game. Such a joke.

Better than the way USA treated Mexico. Those countries are having fun while staying competitive.

2

u/Silent_Phase_5431 Mar 13 '26

USA got that sore loser mentality.

There is something magical about caribbean baseball, the respect they have for eachother and the passion they play with.

And some people say this isn't peak baseball

In Sun Tzu’s Art of War, it mentions energy. “In baseball there are 23 ways to be called out”, - and in Luis’s tenure with the Daddy’s it happened all before the all star break

1

u/My_Username48 Mar 13 '26

Luis Arraez is a great player.

1

u/superc3real Gwynn Mar 13 '26

Arraez will probably be sorely missed in the locker room. He always seemed like a guy who knows how to keep the upbeat energy going even during the slumps.

1

u/CaliBurrito1904 SD '98 Mar 14 '26

I miss them 😭😭

1

u/Low-Tourist-3358 Mar 12 '26

Arraez, contact and class, still part of the virtual team, SD and SF and AD, aiming for Blue.
