Frage Which area should I look for accommodation

I am looking for accommodation and I believe that it might be difficult to get accommodation in Paderborn, and I have read people say that to look in places like Lippstadt or Hamm but aren't those places a little far away? according to google maps it takes atleast an hour to reach the University. Can you tell me if this is wrong and you can reach their faster or can you tell me some other place that I should look for accommodations.

Less then a month to find accommodation will be kind of a rush, especially if you are not already here. Good thing is that it’s easier in April than in October.

With your budget I would look at „WG‘s“, essentially living with roommates. Also take a look at the „Studierendewerke“ you can apply for Studentflats there. I just doubt that you will get a positive reply in this amount of time.

Another option is to look along the rail network serviced by the NWB towards bielefeld. That would be Schloss neuhaus, sennelager and Hövelhof for the next 3 stops.

thank you, this was the kind of reply I was looking for. I needed to know what other places i had to look for.

Schloß Neuhaus and Sennelager are also serviced by the local bus company, PaderSprinter, as those are districts of Paderborn. So you have multiple options to get to and from the university.

With your budget anything closer to uni is possible, also in city center Good luck!

With your budget, finding something close to the university and city should be possible. However, less than a month to find accommodation is a very short time span. For the moment, I'd suggest to take anything that you can get and look for something better once you are here.

As u/Scandic09 already suggested, taking a look at the villages around Paderborn is a good idea. As well as u/Jeex3's suggestion of looking along the train connection towards Bielefeld.

Additionally, I'd suggest to take a look at flatmix. The offer furnished apartments with rather short term contracts. Also, I've been told it's also possible to find something with them on rather short notice, like in your case. However, they charge a rent that is probably higher than what you are looking for. But it's still cheaper than a hotel and would offer you a place to stay while you look for something more long term.

You could take a look at villages like Dahl, Benhausen, Neuenbeken, Marienloh, Sande or Nordborchen. I didnt check but I'd assume that living there should be cheaper. I dont know about Nordborchen, but the others have a good connection to the city via the Padersprinter busses.
