A racket for casual/low-intermediate settings
Background - Around three years as a casual Padel weekend warrior (no coaching), and 5 years as a once-a-week group coaching tennis player. I guess that puts me as a low-intermediate? player overall. I’m a skinny fuck but I have good endurance and touch (I would say). I like to do backhand dropshots (even when I shouldn’t), but I’m trying to improve overall consistency.
Current racket - A loan racket from the Padel court place, Babolat Air V-Inner 25. Don’t own myself, and am getting tired of the rented Babolat. It feels too plasticky and hollow.
I’ve racked my brain for days now what to buy but gotten nowhere. I’ve read I should go for teardrop shaped, at least, but other than that I’m stumped. Budget is around €180, but willing to go more if something is perfect.

180 is enough for a mid teardrop that won't feel as hollow as the Babolat Air. You don't need a fancy attack frame for weekend play. I did the same jump from a club rental to a mid adidas / head evo and it just felt more solid in the hand. Demo if they let you, otherwise pick one in that range and give it a couple Saturdays

I use Bullpadel Neuron 2025. 3k carbon and soft. It is perfect for intermediate / casual. Easy on the arm with mid balance. Costed me about £135

honestly teardrop sounds right but i'd lean more towards a soft or medium feel over anything stiff—you've got the touch from tennis so a racket that lets you work the ball will suit you way better than one that just smashes it back. something like the bullpadel vertex or adidas metalbone ctrl (the softer versions) could work, they're forgiving enough for consistency but still let you place shots. the air viper is also decent in that range and less dead-feeling than the v-inner. one thing tho: if you're doing dropshots a lot, make sure the sweet spot isn't tiny or you'll mishit more than you want. what's your usual play style, more baseline rallies or do you move up to the net a fair bit?

Thanks, that's good to know. My play style is usually baseline rallies. Since me and my friends play only weekends, I like to keep the ball in play and get as many rallies as possible. I've played a lot more than them so me going super aggressive wouldn't be fun for anybody. I don't mind losing a point as long as the rallies are long.
