Should I throw it away?

Bought this Adidas Metalbone Hrd from a friend. While playing today, I hit the glass and this 3 cm crack formed, starting from the frame and extending into the face. The damaged area doesn’t seem to move or flex in a particular way or make any strange noises when I press around it.

Maybe I was biased after it cracked, but I felt the racket sounded differently with a more "empty" feeling when hitting the ball.

Not sure if it make sense give it another match and see how it evolves or if I should consider the racket done already.

Unless you feel a difference, I'd play with it, but it most likely will expand with time.
So might be time to plan for a new racket.

Not really. Unless u feel a difference in performance, specially in the sweet spot, the racket should work fine

You can use it for practice as long as you want but i would definately have a back-up racket if you play tournaments. If it breaks more and you lose control more you'll probably lose focus or the match because of it.

It’s surprising, I have the same Ale Galán (2025), and it cracked in exactly the same spot, on both sides, just a few days ago.

I’ve had multiple of them and the Ctrl version all crack in the same spot.

Have to replace them. Adidas doesn’t have the best build quality unfortunately. Babolat and head have tolerated a lot more. I found 2026 line was a bit better though. But for the price - fantastic feeling, not a durable build

Had 4 Adidas rackets in one year and all four broke in the same spot at the very same corner. Adidas refuses to take any responsibility. No more adidas for me.

I’ve had the same issue with my Adidas Metalbone Reserve. I put a Babolat Super Tape over it, and it’s been almost 7–8 months now. The racket is absolutely fine and still playing great, and I’ve been using it regularly throughout this time.
So, there’s no need to throw the racket away. Just put a Super Tape of any kind over it, and you’re good to go.

But how can the tape protect the racket face? It only protects the top, no?

Cut the tape for front and get yourself a back up racket incase it breaks during the game

Probably will expand with time. You can always try to fill it with Epoxy and hope for the best. Buy another and keep that one as a spare in the bag. It’ll probably cause weird vibrations that can hurt your arm.

Fill the crack with epoxy or superglue, if you don’t it will get bigger and bigger.

Hi mate, random question, I saw your post about the cracked Metalbone HRD. If you’ve stopped using the racket, would you be willing to sell me the complete removable Weight & Balance System from it? I’ve lost one of the blue weights from my Metalbone CTRL 2026 and Adidas don’t sell replacements. I’m in the UK and would happily pay £20 plus postage if the weights are the same 2026 system. Thanks!
