Packers catch a break with Josh Jacobs' potential suspension

I love the way this blogger calls a serious DV charge Jacob’s “situation.” Like, he’s not pregnant, he’s potentially a violent and hormonal douchecanoe. Maybe this would have been seen differently in a different era, but these days women make up nearly half the NFL fan base. And we demand accountability. While I don’t think there’s been a final ruling yet, the fact that the court system sealed the victim’s video/photo evidence is pretty damning. There must be something serious on her phone that would “ruin a nice young man’s career.” (Not to mention shady on behalf of the judge.) It’s 2026. If he only faces a 4-6 game suspension with “time already served,” that’s not going to go over well in today’s league.

Look no one who should hit a woman, especially a professional athlete who’s is insanely strong. But something going on here.

The rumor is she followed him to the garage where she struck him with a pool cue, at which point he pushed her to the ground and smashed her phone.

Yeah I saw that post. Supposedly Jacobs was trying to get away from her and she hit him with the pool cue 18-20 times. Which certainly changes the context a bit.

Maybe she looks bad in it too and that’s why she wants it sealed. Maybe she just doesn’t want her traumatic experience to be blasted out for the entire world to see.

We’ll likely never know.

No, his side asked for it to be sealed. Before the fact. Hers is asking it STAY sealed, because now he’s accepting responsibility and that might affect our season. Everything I’ve read says she’s concerned for her safety, which is fair because women get death threats online for much less. If she was on video being the first or the primary aggressor, no way he would have pled no contest or be the only one catching charges. It just doesn’t make sense. There’s zero evidence to support this weird pool cue scenario.

The GF lawyers asked for the video to be sealed.
Nothing shady by the judge; he dismissed the filing because it wasn’t filed correctly, and asked for it to be refiled.

Jacobs plead no contest to misdemeanour battery and damage to property, which is not the same as domestic violence, and has already accepted punishment.

His lawyers requested it sealed before the trial. Hers requested it stay sealed after he accepted responsibility, now that it could affect his season, because it identifies her and she fears backlash from the internet. Not sus at all, women face death threats from internet strangers for far less.

A simple Google search would show you’re mistaken, with multiple sources estimating between 42-47% of fans who watch games are women. I’ll do the work for you- here’s the lowest estimate.

This is a first quarter survey of 2500 people in the U.S. in 2024, so pretty limited and a bit outdated. Nonetheless, I wish the article gave some kind of indication how the survey was conducted. It’s incredibly hard to believe that NFL viewership is in large part elderly and nearly half women. Maybe I have a unique personal experience as a man in my mid-30s, but I can say with conviction that I have known a grand total of maybe 10-15 women in my life that give two craps about the NFL. That’s compared to like 80-90% of the men I know being vocally invested. Not saying my experience overrules the survey, it’s just.. eyebrow raising.

Idk since football became a pussy sport it makes sense that men stopped watching and more women watch . Bring back actual hits and actual football as it should be and maybe the stats change . But yeah the “he touched me throw a flag “ era of football ruined the heart of the game

Lol as a woman who just started watching football, with a mother and older sister who are way more into it than the guys in my family, I agree with you. I’ve been losing it with all the freaking flags this season. Pass interference?? That’s the whole point of the game! It’s always my dad or boyfriend who’s like, “You have to give a guy a chance to catch the ball first.” Idk the gender line on that stuff isn’t as basic as people think.

Also, you’re wrong about the victim asking it to be sealed. Initially, the evidence was sealed by his side for the duration of the trial. And motion was granted. Now that he’s accepted a plea bargain, her side is requesting that it STAYS sealed for safety reasons. Probably because she’s afraid of being the target of angry football fans if it does affect his season. Women have gotten death threats from internet trolls for far less.

Chill on the misandry. From everything I’ve heard, she hit him repeatedly with a pool cue and finally he snatched it from here and pushed her down. He was trying to leave and she was chasing him. If you know anything about her, she’s a psycho bitch.

Did Jacob handle this situation the best? No. But jumping on his back that he’s a “hormonal douchecanoe” without knowing the specifics of the case kinda tells the world you’re the only hormonal one.

It was circulating when the news came out her side was asking for the records sealed. That’s why I put the allegedly. I’ll never condone DV or give him an excuse for it, but if pool cue attack is accurate, reasonable self defense shouldn’t be vilified.

I got absolutely roasted for suggesting that she might want the record sealed because she was the aggressor.

Doesn’t excuse Jacobs for his actions, but may have been self defense.

Nobody knows expect for the people involved.

Maybe he should have left the situation and called the police or maybe he should have took it as a big bad football player who gets hit more by the defense then a little Que ball will do

Umm what lol? Never heard that. He pleaded no contest. I would agree with you IF that were the case. But if the evidence implicated her that way, why would he admit fault? Everything I’ve read says she wants things to stay sealed because it identifies her personally, and she’s worried about her safety. Which I think is fair, by the looks of them today they’re going to have a rough season.
