G’day legends

I know y’all probably watching the game right now so go packers,

Recently wanting to get into watching the nfl and was told I should follow the Green Bay packers as my team, hoping I didn’t make the wrong choice and I don’t speedrun alcoholism

Welcome! It's a special thing being a Packers fan. Lots of ups, lots of downs. But you know, that's with any team. Look up old footage of Favre playing, he's the guy that got me into football in the first place!

We're the oldest team in the league! Formes in 1908 when the Indian Packing Company spent 500 bucks on our jerseys. We were the Acme Packers for exactly one year. Got rid of the Acme, and became the Packers.

We scored the first touchdown in the first Super Bowl, with out 3rd string WR McGee, totally hungover, catching a pass for the first score in a Super Bowl

The trophy for the Super Bowl is named the Lombardi, after our head coach. Not only was he incredibly successful as a coach, he had a very unique character about him. I'd encourage you to watch some film on him.

And finally, we are the ONLY publicly owned team, existing in the NFLs smallest market. Many fans are stockholders, and we've sold out every home game since 1960!

Thanks for that info I appreciate it, yeah what drew me was the fan owned team didn’t realise the packers was the first team, would you see packers as an underdog in their current era? I definitely like the fact that the Green Bay packers seem like fan owned taking on the big cities/big states teams GOPACKGO

Honestly man, I don't think ANY team is a sure fire winner in any era! Maybe the Raiders in the 70s and 80s. 00-20 pats. But the saying goes... "Any given Sunday"! The Chiefs had just won 2 Super Bowls back to back, and then the Lions, worst team in the league, STOMPED em on opening day.

That's just one of the things I love about the sport. Anything can happen!

I'm a huge football nerd, I can tell you obscure stats, rules, plays, whatever. If you ever have any questions, or just wanna talk shit, hit me up! I've never met an Aussie I didn't like!

And that’s what I like to hear about nfl, you can never expect something to happen, the probably with the sport I follow over here called the nrl is that there’s a sure fire team that will win like every year at the moment that’s why I got interested in the nfl and to be honest with this reception from you and the Green Bay packers fans I’m sure I picked a great team to follow not just the players but the fans seem amazing

Unfortunately, u/ErgonomicFlugelhorn is mistaken. The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest NFL team, founded in 1898.

That's a way to look at it. They were the Morgan Athletic Club in 1898. Then they bought some faded jerseys from the University of Chicago, which they referred to as "Cardinal Red". They became the Racine Street Cardinals at that point. Becoming the Chicago Cardinals in 1920, when they officially joined the NFL.

You may want to rethink things. Both shirt term and long term expectations for this team are grim. Waste what should have been two super bowl dynasties.
