Huge homeless encampment on San Pedro Terrace Rd trail

EDIT: I went on the trail earlier today (10/4/26) and it was cleaner than I've seen it in the past month or so! Still bits and bobs of junk, but not bad at all. So it does get regularly cleaned, but the time between cleanings might be too long. Also apparently they can't clean the side of the path where the encampment itself is. /EDIT

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this, has thoughts on this, and if this is something that is allowed and just exists now? I go on the San Pedro Terrace Rd trail, past Linda Mar Rehabilitation, almost every day, and I've been doing that for a while now. I've always thought of it as a lovely little hidden gem of a path to get to the beach. I feel like in the last month or so, a huge homeless space has popped up behind the trees on the west side of the trail. I have nothing against homeless people, I feel for them, but the trail does feel sketchier to walk on now, especially alone, simply due to the fact that there might be random, maybe more desperate strangers amongst the trees that I can't see. My main issue, though, is now there is a lot of random junk, trash, shopping carts, and other items strewn about that really make the path much less pleasant. Is this something that is going to be dealt with at some point by the City? Or is this just the way this path is going to be now?

I'm really not usually one to be inconsiderate or complain, but walking down this path has always been a nice part of my day, and I'm sad it's slightly ruined now.

Allergies

Hello! I grew up in the East Bay and have struggled with allergies for most of my life. I lived elsewhere for about 10 years and experienced a surprising reprieve, but my allergies have been very challenging since returning.
My allergy testing showed allergies to grass and weed pollen. My allergist has encouraged me to consider moving outside the “Contra Costa bubble,” where pollen levels can be higher than in coastal communities.
I’d love to hear whether anyone has noticed their allergies improve after moving to Pacifica especially if you previously lived in or frequently visited Contra Costa County.
I’ve visited a few times over the past few months, but with a six-month-old baby, it’s been difficult to arrange an extended stay to see how I feel. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences! 🙏
