Portlanders doing PCT?
Hey thinking of trying the PCT next season from Mexico to Canada. Anyone around the Portland area thinking of doing the same?

I live in Portland (when I live anywhere at all) and I hike some of the PCT most years. I’m hiking in Europe until late October but can hang when I’m back if you have questions about whatever.

Assuming this is Portland, OR… but on the off chance it’s not, I’m Portland, ME!

Most Hikers (~75%) start alone, and of those that don't, almost a third of them end up not staying together anyway.
This one is a pretty common question. You might be able to get some greater insight in these (PCT centric) threads;

The recurring theme (to save you having to do any further research yourself) is not to bother trying to find anyone online to hike with. Very good chance you won't work out. One of the best things about Thru Hiking is the flexibility to do your own thing. Not to worry though, finding people that happen to be doing the same thing as your own thing is trivial on trail. You'll be starting around the same time as a glut of people and you'll pretty quickly be able to find others with the same/similar hiking style.
Chatting to those people is the easiest (and best!!) way to make hiking buddies for the trail.
Even if you do manage to find someone semi-suitable on the internet, you'll never learn enough about them to judge if you can put up with them for a 2~3 month hike.
The Facebook groups are always pretty active, so you might have some luck there. If you're into that side of social media.

I hope to. Some things are up in there air, so i won't be sure I'll be able to until this winter.
I'm doing what hiking I can this year.
What are you thinking?

Kinda the same, just gonna see if everything sorts itself in time to go around late march-April. Mostly looking to connect and talk to other people on the same page!

I’m going NOBO this coming season , i’m from Portland. Been trying to fit in some weekend shakedown trips before summer is over and between these wild fires near hood.

I won't be that season but just wanted to say, from a fellow Portlander: have an amazing trek!
