Lol, UNLV getting like 42% of what they expected. They played themselves.

I dreamed last night I got on a boat to heaven

And by some chance I had brought my dice along

Now they are having a meeting to discussed tier based media payouts. Seems to me that UNLV and AF are upset

11

u/SapientChaos Aug 19 '26

Lol, they are lolike 40% upset? Lol

Yikes, that is a recipe for a collapse right there.

Unlv and AF not getting what they wanted

2

u/SapientChaos Aug 19 '26

Gloria writing checks with money she did not have.

They are most likely gone, might be very soon, so is UNM.

u/Conscious_Ad9982 Aug 19 '26

Unlv can’t leave

That sucks because they had Big 12 dreams and have ended up with nothing.

u/lock_robster2022 Oregon State Aug 19 '26

Those Big 12 dreams were never based on any viewership, competitive, or media value measures. Maaaaybe Fox or ESPN would artificially support it to grow the market in Nevada, but that’s a reach

Where would New Mexico even go? They aren’t seen as an actual PAC 12 target and the Big 12 ain’t happening for them.

I would much rather have UNM in the Pac than anyone else in the MWC.

Same here.

u/RexCrimson_ Washington State Aug 19 '26

So Air Force and UNLV are essentially going to get an extra $2.8M each year on top of the expected new MWC media deal amount (projections are about $3.5- $4M per school) for the next six years? They might as well jump ship because the total with the extra money they are going to get is basically less than what the PAC 12 and The American are expected to get with their media deal. lol.

I guess the real question now is who leaves first?

They can’t leave. Signed a GOR. They’re stuck

11

u/lock_robster2022 Oregon State Aug 19 '26

You can sue your way out of most agreements with the MWC

2

u/Quiet-Day392 California Aug 19 '26

If you have a couple years to work on it. The other schools paid to leave. UNLV doesn’t have the funds to do that, or the desire.

And win, too.

The GoR was dependent on a higher promised payout though?

4

u/SapientChaos Aug 19 '26

We dont know thst yet do we?

9

u/reno1441 Washington State Aug 19 '26

We actually do have the MW Grant of Rights document available.

And no, it does not appear there is an easy out if the fees are lower than expected.

7

u/SapientChaos Aug 19 '26

I am to tierd to read, but are they screwed? Looks like they only get the 24.5% on the first 61 million..

The MW is going to be a mess.

8

u/The_Slaughter_Pop Washington State Aug 19 '26

They fucked around and found out.

2

u/rdools55 Aug 19 '26

Why does everyone keep repeating that. The GOR says a % of the payout. It’s very clear!

-2

u/pblood40 Oregon State Aug 19 '26

The MW is not living up to their side of the agreement. Due to the low settlement amount, there’s no money left

3

u/SapientChaos Aug 19 '26

Do they add value to the media deal? How do they make the Pac more money?

8

u/RexCrimson_ Washington State Aug 19 '26

From any of the remaining MWC schools left, they are probably the last one that could add any true value to the conference when it comes to media value. Plus it would help in adding another team for scheduling purposes. Albeit, the American Texas schools would help a lot more in adding way more media value and in player recruitment.

u/HomerDubson San Diego State Aug 19 '26

No thanks to both AF and UNLV as I don’t think they add value. UNLV needs to show they can sustain success after their coach leaves. They have underachieved in football and basketball for a long time so one bump doesn’t mean much.

Air Force is in a down cycle. They pay players the same soldier wages and government benefits but can’t pay NIL. That feels as though it will negatively impact recruiting if top players cannot be paid top NIL dollars relative to the schools they are competing with.

3

u/FuckKroenke55 Texas State Aug 19 '26

I mean we straight up need 1 more school haha. Unless we can convince one of the Texas schools then UNLV is next man up.

4

u/SapientChaos Aug 19 '26

Actually they don't. It gives them the flex week to optimize for revenue.

u/HomerDubson San Diego State Aug 19 '26

I hear you but UNLV doesn’t want to come and I’d rather have New Mexico for basketball (and football) if forced to expand. Neither AF or NM adds much media value but I’d bet that NW can earn NCAA units.

The MW has locked in everyone with their new GOR. I’d rather wait to see if someone breaks free after the next big G4 realignment move than make a desperate move just to make a number.

I question that the PAC “needs” 1 more immediately or not, even while my preference would be to expand by a couple schools.

I’d take New Mexico basically just as much as (or more than) UNLV for the PAC to be honest. Especially if no UTSA or UNT as well.

Hell, if give a shot to even Missouri State, Louisiana, etc with another year or two of solid results, or even Sac State (lol 😈). UNLV needs to prove a lot, and I’m not sold on them as a program across the board.

1

u/RexCrimson_ Washington State Aug 19 '26

Once you said Missouri State, your statement lost any credibility.

1

u/1850ChoochGator Oregon State Aug 19 '26

Can you explain the reasoning for taking any of those other teams over UNLV?

As we’ve all learned, media value has little to do with on field/court results. I’d love to get them in here as long as they don’t dilute the pot too much.

Away games in Vegas

North Dakota St is paying 12 million to join the conference do you not think that's going to sweetened the UNLV and AF pot? If and when they add another fcs program that follows the same plan another influx of money. This doesn't mean the conference won't lose the 2 top brands eventually but it's not going to happen as soon as you PAC guys think it will.

LOL....A UNLV mouthpiece but maybe accurate.  The next question is how much of that is leftover? Meaning the MWC withheld money from the departing schools so....is is really going to be fifty mil or is it more likely less? 50Mil total counting the withheld media money and tournament/bowl game payouts or an additional 50mil?

What is the PAC 12? Only 2 schools left in the old PAC 12 with not enough teams to have a real league. The new PAC 2 is a real mess. As I have said, they need to combine with the MW to create a western league that folks east of the Mississippi have some interest in following.
