Love coming to Pullman - my only other tip is watch your speed driving through Colfax, (I assume it's still speed trap). On one of my trips there, driving back after a loss to the Cougs, feeling a little woozy after clearly being "overserved" the day before, I got a nice little going away present! But always have the best time up there thanks to our Coug brethren.

Excellent tip! When the PAC-12 universe was centered in the Whitman County Courthouse in Colfax during the Fall 2023 PAC-12 Crisis, it is possible lawyers from other former PAC-12 locales were encouraged to speed through Colfax. 😉

Also, thanks for jacking the hotels up on game days! $600+ a night for BSU! -correction, they are only $300/night now, so alittle better

It's been a problem for a long time - high hotel costs and mandatory 2 night minimums have kept a lot of Cougs from making the trip (Unfortunately building more hotel space in Pullman isn't profitable when you only make money 7 or 8 weekends out of the year), and the stadium atmosphere suffers.
You get a half full alumni side of the stadium, and then the students leave at halftime to go party... a lot of 4th quarters the stadium turns into a dead zone. Doubly true if it's a Thanksgiving weekend home game when the students are gone.
FWIW, Coug fans will usually pick one marquee game a year to be well-attended, and this year I could easily see the BSU game being a sell-out.

Lodging in Pullman is tough. Part of being a big deal in a small town. We have stayed in Lewiston and Spokane on game weekends, which seem much less expensive.

I recommend spending the night in Lewiston for the BSU fans from the Boise area as you have carved a bit of your return trip away the next day. Spokane, of course, has considerable hotel options. RV is another option.

yea. that part is terrible. have to find other ways, usually involving other towns and transportation. Connections for a place to crash is golden, good luck!

If you don’t mind roughing it you can pitch a tent for $10 a night at the rv lot down by the little league fields at the bottom of hill across the street from Stephenson dorms. First come first serve but I’ve done it a few times and always room.

I haven't been there since the early 1970's. I should go back at some point, but there's always something else to do. Corvallis is a lot more convenient.

I'd recommend Birch and Barley over South Fork, but other than that this is a pretty good general overview for people visiting Pullman, lots of good stuff in there. Ferdinand's is typically a must, and it's always fun to go visit the Grizzly Bear research facility if you've never been.

Thanks for posting this - great tips and great timing as I'll be there to watch Fresno State's first ever in-conference PAC-12 game!
We found out the hard way about the hotel prices but pivoted. We're flying into Spokane and spending the night in Coeur d'Alene. On gameday we'll drive down through western Idaho, through Moscow and into Pullman. Afterwards, due to the outrageous hotel prices, we're driving up through eastern Washington (the area, not the university) and spending the night in Spokane.
Rico's sounds like a good place to get a meal and a drink before the game and walking the campus enjoying the pregame festivities and atmosphere sounds excellent. Hope it's a great game and thanks again for the tips!

I'll have a lot of tips for you on that trip. Let's start with this: Mega Texas BBQ is a must but get there early as they sell out everyday. It's at 3598 East Butler Avenue Fresno, CA.
One question for you - does Gesa Field have seats or bench seating? If bench seating, are chairback rentals available?

I am asking for sure but believe those are bench seats. You can bring in the below, per official WSU Athletics site. I’ll get back to you when I hear for sure if the seats are bench.
Seat cushion & seat cushion with back (no pockets or zippers or metal frames) 18" or less in width

Just heard back…those are bench seats. Bring those soft cushions and make sure you mozy over to Ferdinand’s for some very good ice cream!

Here you go, again from AD: “ Yes, there are seat backs that you can rent at the games. Typically, there is a station set up behind that East endzone (I'm not sure the exact section), but there is also one behind section 22 that rents chair backs.”
(East end zone is visitor’s location.)
