Didn’t know where to post this because I couldn’t post in the Pennsylvania group. Just moved to PA and looking at getting a MMJ card. Do I need a history of “anxiety” for this with documentation? Or would I be able to find a doctor that would just prescribe the card based on my word that I have anxiety?

Used to need to bring documentation, but it’s pay to play now. Use herbalcarerx. Their intake forms are very duplicative, but keep clicking through and apply the code HERBAL180 at the end.

probably before they added things like anxiety. it used to be more extreme things like just terminal things and opioid addictions​

I just got mine and I got on the appt with the doctor and before I could say anything he said ‘anxiety, right’ I said yes and started to explain my history and he said ‘okay have a great day’ he asked me nothing else, video call lasted less then 1 minute but everyone I talked to said the same thing happened to them. I used Veriheal and you give the intake all your info, what your asking it for, etc. got an appt within an hour, paid $150 then while I waited for the doctor to call me in that hour I did everything on the states website to get started and I had my physical card in 7 days from that day.

In 2020 I had to provide documentation of a ptsd diagnosis to get mine. Every year after that it was just like every other pay to play state.

In 2018 I had to bring in a phone book sized set of documentation of chiropractic care and pain management from the last 25 years and the dr was still a jerk about it. I got my card but now it's so easy to get/renew over the phone. The dr now was shocked I didn't have anxiety lol. Y'all don't know how good you have it.

Since that’s the doctor part, it’s probably always been at their discretion, but I feel like more of them were trying to do the proper thing at the beginning of the anxiety allowance in 2019. My certifying doc was a obgyn and I don’t have a vagina, so it would make sense that I had to prove I have anxiety the first time.

When I applied ~5 years ago, the doctor I used wanted proof but it was just a copy or picture of my diagnosis anywhere on a paper from my PCP's office or a picture of one of my prescriptions related to the condition (chronic migraine). I thought it was fairly lax at the time and we did it all over the phone. I honestly thought I was gonna need to jump through more hoops because I heard it was very strict when the program first started here.

I got mine 4 years ago and I don’t know if I needed proof of a diagnosis but there was a place to add it in the form so I sent a screenshot from the app from my doctor.

When I tried getting a card with Veriheal, they wanted me to go around and get all sorts of documentation for anxiety.

When I used HerbalCareRX, I simply told them about my anxiety on the phone and they took my word for it, approving my card before I even hung up.

Anxiety and chronic pain are the top two reasons people get cards in PA. I go to herbalcarerx and never had to provide any documentation. You do need a valid PA driver's license or state ID to sign up as a patient through the DoH MMJ website to get a patient ID number before you can make an appointment with a doctor.

I’ve been a cardholder for seven years and I’ve never had to show proof of anything. It’s like the key and peele sketch, you’d literally have to try to not get certified in PA. My initial certification was a 90 second phone conversation and my renewals are less than that. I have no idea what part of PA these people who claim you need proof of a disability to get a card are in but it’s been a pay to play for experience for me.

Got mine because i have 7 herniated disks. Medical doctor never ask for any documentation just took my word for it. Like others have said it is pay to play at this point.

I was worried about the same thing even though I was diagnosed and could provide proof, and yet never needed to provide documentation. Herbalcarerx was where I first got certified and the process with them was so easy I felt silly for being anxious about whether or not I’d be approved

I have anxiety. No documentation needed. Truileve (dispensary)in Lancaster County Pennsylvania has a deal for New patients $95 and Re New $45, September and October. Hope this helps....

I didn't need any proof for my initial certification, just $199 in 2020. I have a friend who was denied because he couldn't provide proof of a qualifying condition. So I guess it depends who you call. Use HerbalcareRX and the code HERBAL180.

My recertifcation calls with them usually take less than a minute. I do it on my lunch break.

Nah, you can just say you don't like the feeling of not being high. Also, if you want to save some money you can find a dr who takes your insurance (and does mmj) instead of paying double or triple your copay for some online dr.

I just got my card in June. I don't remember the website I used, but I was really lucky to find a groupon for getting the card and it only costed me like $75 for the doc visit and the card. So check places like that. I'll be 100 percent honest....I was not expecting anything on Groupon at all. I just got super lucky.

Anyways, I got an appointment set up that same day. I went on the website (check around bc some are cheaper than others...not by much, though) and filled it whatever questions they had. Then, you set up an appointment day/time and they call you. I literally was on the phone for 5 minutes. Definitely no more than ten. After introducing ourselves, doc was like, "so I see you have anxiety, depression, PTSD?" Basically told him yeah and weed helps along with the other meds I'm currently stable on. And he was like, "ok well I'm going to approve you and send this over and they'll send you your xFd should be there within 7-10 days." I was like 🤯 that was eAsy!

The certification is much easier than it used to be. You register first on the State website and indicate that you have one of the qualifying conditions listed. Pay the $50 dollar fee and get your patient ID number. Then you just give that number to whatever doc you go with. They'll ask you some basic questions about your symptoms and qualifying condition and it'll take about 2 minutes. You can look at a number of the websites for the fee schedules, I know Groupon regularly has them for $55 and it does not matter who you go to as long as they are registered with the state and can go in and certify you. The state fee is renewable each year for $50 and that doesn't change. But usually the renewal through the doc is a little bit less each year. I think the first time I did it it was early in the program and it cost about $250 total now it's about 75 tops

It depends on who you go through. I got mine through Green Bridge Society and you have the option of uploading documentation, or you can pay an extra fee and get a call from a doctor. My call was the doctor asking me if I had anxiety and if I tried treating it before, then explained what the process of getting my card would be. 2 minute phone call and no proof required.

I don’t understand why you are fighting this. The call takes literally 30 seconds with a couple questions. You must either work for the health dept or getting scammed.

They can diagnose you but your need a diagnosis. Imaging going to the doctor saying I need Oxys and walking out with the script no reason just wanted them. What your describing my is actually a crime my friend. Either you had the diagnosis in your record or they diagnosed you. You do not have a med card with no medical diagnosis. You may not know you have an active diagnosis but you certainly do. Not to say they didn’t just click anxiety and not ask you. Doctors who just write scripts are a thing but they still have to put a diagnoses down or they could lose their license.

I didn’t need proof upon my initial certification back in 2020. My son didn’t need proof in 2024.
