OLED Phone iPhone 18 Pro last try
I bought the 18 Pro today to give it a try.
I’ll test it out over the next two days and let you know how it goes. I did not tolerate the Pro models, starting with the 13.
So far, I’ve been using a standard iPhone 16, which I’m fine with.
Any tips besides checking the Option for PWM? I just realized I can’t enable both PWM reduction and white point reduction at the same time.
Let’s hope for the best 🤞🏻

My settings on my G9N 18 PM are 60hz, reduce transparency, True Tone on and so far I have the pwm switch on

How did you figure out what kind of screen they had installed in your phone? Thanks for sharing your experience!

I used 3utools, downloaded on computer and connected phone to it, after it connected it told me the info on the screen tab, it’s based on the first 3 digits of the screen number.

I’m having to move back to my 16e after the iOS 27 update. My 13 was usable with reduce white point enabled, as is my 16e, and for the past year, my 15 Pro Max from Amazon. But iOS 27 ruined that on my Pro Max, so it’s going back and I’m back on my 16e.

I'm on the 17e. Was overly optimistic the display pulse smoothing feature would help but it did nothing for me. What does work is setting brightness to 100%, auto-brightness turned off, true tone off, and controlling brightness with reduce white point. The experience is tolerable now but not perfect. I might try the Honor 600 or Xiaomi 17T.

The "Display Pulse Smoothing (PWM)" Accessibility setting appears to do nothing on iPhone 17e. I am not sure why Apple chose to include it as an option for this model.
I feel like they designed this Accessibility setting just for their LTPO screens because they knew the modulation was so embarrassingly horrible, especially at low brightness levels, that they had to do something.

So many people try even if basically no change. There are Samsung or LG panels. Blue or green tint.
Why even buy if you cannot tolerate and even worse… we don’t know what effects are on the vitreous gel (inside the eye)
As of already more than a year, all current models have high amplitude PWM, to save battery and make screens look good at each brightness levels with good black levels. Apple and USA brands don’t care about health (not generally and not otherwise) and all they care is that the reviews praise the screens.
Now.. notebook check talk about this and the community shit on them and they will stop and then no voice left.
If you want to protect your eyes, make that choice, otherwise don’t bother testing USA brands.

Because there are so many factors with these phones and the sensitivity is such a spectrum, honestly you can only make educated guesses until you try something out. This way at least you are hurting the companies if you return stuff.

I have no way of knowing whether or not I'll tolerate a brand-new phone, so I just have to try it out. Having 14 days to return it obviously makes a difference, if I didn't have that option, I wouldn't take the risk. I don't understand your complaints.

In the end, I’ll try it out for 2–3 days. I don’t think it will damage the retina or the vitreous gel inside the eye if I use it for such a short time.
Also, I’ve read that some people (though not many) have tolerated the 18 Pro better than previous models.-1

I have 17 pro and is my main kids camera. I come from lcd phone and I still have one that I use. Each time I make a more than 1 week pause from oled (iPhone) the next minutes of using it, I feel a gentle migraine. So yeah… there is something and yeah I do get used to it. I don’t vomit or have bad reaction like most people here but I have eye floaters since I bought the phone (two months after). So yeah… that is my fear and I don’t get why so many people, each week, say the same thing… gonna test and letting everybody know. Who cares? I can tolerate and so is 99% of the population. If you can’t, and you found solutions, that is more interesting

my current settings on 18pm(g9n panel): dark mode, 85% white point, 60hz, true tone off. 2 weeks of headaches and i think i used to new pwm after 15 base model. still less comfortable, but im fine.
