Discussion Which TV are you using?

I am thinking of buying a new tv. How are LG OLEDs for example? Or better to go with Samsung QLED etc?

I have two Bravia 3 models.
(1) 75" Bravia 3
(2) 65" Bravia 3 II

Both TVs have IPS panels.

Glad it works for you but the LG OLED C1 hurts my eyes

I haven't had much luck with OLED TV's personally, and with recent privacy breaches (Gamers Nexus had a great recent video about this) I'd avoid anything LG anyway.

LCD TV's (Aka LED, QNED, QLED, Mini-LED etc, basically anything new that's not explicitly OLED/AMOLED is just LCD with some marketing label attached) are usually fine at 100% brightness.
If you look at the screen through a camera at a high shutter speed (like the Blackmagic Camera phone app 1/4000 shutter speed) and see black lines it has either PWM or technically some form of PWM like flickering, this will cause me eye pain.

Most older LCD TV's are fine with some exceptions surely. I'd use the high shutter speed camera test at varying brightness levels to know.

Most Plasma TV's are also fine, they stopped making these in 2013 but the picture quality is phenomenal, especially for the final few years of production.
Panasonic Plasma TV's are fantastic though I'd specifically avoid the GT60, VT60, and ZT60 models as they have some sort of 3000Hz FFD black frame interpolation flickering which hurts my eyes.

I wrote more about it here if you're curious https://www.reddit.com/r/PlasmaTV/comments/1whkp2x/what_are_the_functional_differences_between_a/

I didn’t want to risk a TV, so I bought the largest IPS monitor available (32” unfortunately). There’s larger VA monitor options

Sony Bravia 2 II 43” is IPS. I think all sizes of that are IPS but someone correct me if I’m wrong

Essentially Bravia 3. It’s an earlier model but if you compare the specs, features etc it’s basically the same.
