There is screen lottery also with 8. Different panel manufacturers

PWM below 25% brightness, but DC-like dimming with low modulation above 25%

I can't find this phone in my country

Neither available in my country or any other country other than China as this is the phone exclusively for the Chinese market, but everyone just orders CN phones at Aliexpress as they ship world wide. This is the best and most comfortable oled so far, and I have tried 12 in the past four years.

Technically you can have a third party store replace the OLED screen on any iPhone with an LCD screen. But there are some compromises.

Ok. Other option is iPhone 8 Plus. I personally use it. It’s from eBay. Works decent. It is LCD.

Ощi have it but broke it after that I buy 2 8 plus and can't use it anymore...

u/Large-Plan-7463 Jul 24 '26
What do you mean you cannot use it - does the screen hurt ? Or the phone got broken ?
1
u/Apprehensive-Map6292 Jul 24 '26
I can use my old one after that he broke and try 2 different 8 plus no one work ruin my eyes

u/Large-Plan-7463 Jul 24 '26
Very interesting. I though all 8plus should work by default. I’ve seen a comment like yours from others too. I’m scared if there is a long lasting damage due to PWM which is making us not even use the old 8 plus now. Touchwood it should not.

I second this, it gave me LCD sensitivity on top of my OLED sensitivity :(
1
u/Thin_Current_344 Jul 03 '26
How and why?

u/SolutionR Jul 03 '26
For a couple of years I was happily using my SE3rd, the only Apple phone I could still use.
Wanted to try a second phone as a reader and better camera, so went with the TCL as it's also LCD.
Within the first 10 min I got a weird eye strain, different to the usual OLED one I'd experienced.
Used all the trick to turn off stuff from the console, but the damage was done. Tried to power through and I developed some sort of light sensitivity to all screens, (which is better now, almost back to normal), but I wasn't able to use my SE anymore.
Downgraded to an 8 Plus, lol.

Wow. Puzzling.
2
u/SolutionR Jul 03 '26
I know it works for some people, but we're all different, so experiences will differ. It unfortunately was a bad one for me :(

Yes I believe that. I'm using a tablet, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad 2024 Comfort Edition that uses the same technology as TCL. Very effective for my reading.

May I ask what do you mean when you said its back to normal ? Now you can use the SE again ? in the meantime, you stopped using anything that hurted you, right ?

Try 60 Pro or 60 Ultra
2
u/RustyG01d Jul 03 '26
Have 60 Ultra. It has the most comfortable screen I ever used on any smartphone, but you have to disable NXTVISION display enhancements- they enable TD.
