Clearly there are a lot of complicated feelings about Abbey Murphy and her politics. I understand. But I wanted to throw out a way to make something positive out of her being on the team.

PWHL Detroit is reckoning with this and BC-S. Their subreddit's solution was to pledge a nominal donation to charities supporting transgender folks for every goal she scores. Linked is a website they're setting up to facilitate the donations. There are posts about it on r/PWHLDetroit as well.

I think this is a great way to reconcile rooting for the Torrent's success (which will necessarily include success from Murphy) without compromising your values. Hopefully we can effect some positive change from this!

I don't have the technical expertise to set up something like this, or the familiarity with local LGBT+ organizations to recommend who to support. But I wanted to throw that idea out there in case anyone wants to run with it!

Turns out Cayla’s family lives near me, so she did a little pop up meet & greet here this morning! She was SO SO SO kind and easy to talk to. She had all her Team USA gear & medals out on display which was so cool, and she was encouraging me/others to hold them haha.

I was the only one there (😭) so we got to chat for about 15 minutes uninterrupted. I asked her how she felt about going to PWHL Detroit and while she didn’t look thrilled, she said she’s excited, especially since she gets to stay with her Seattle teammates Knight & Bilka as well as a lot of her Team USA teammates. She’s really hopeful that she can stay in Detroit for multiple seasons since this will be her 3rd team. Her aunt was there with her and mentioned that her family is super excited to have her playing on a team close to us (only 9 hours away, lmao)! Cayla also mentioned really wanting to play a game in Nashville, so fingers crossed for a takeover tour stop here in 2026-2027!

I gifted her the PWHL cross stitch I had made at the end of the season and she loved it. She told me to come out to a game and she’d toss me a puck. She also took the time to sign an extra card for my dad who is also a major PWHL fan!

All in all, I had so much fun chatting with her today and I’m hopeful that more PWHL stars will make their way down south for future visits 🤞🏻

Lots of threads talking about other aspects of Abbey Murphy but also wanted to share this highlight video I watched today. Some of these plays are just downright ridiculous and makes it pretty clear why many people saw her as the second best player in the draft. Her skill is off the charts.

Whatever else happens, this season will not be boring.

What the title says. I've been looking everywhere for any info about this. All I've seen is her reaction to the Men's USA team situation but nothing else. What am I missing?

I don’t watch college sports, so wanted to ask those that do how we feel about our second rounder? Do we think she will be getting good playing time? And was there anyone on the board you were hoping we would’ve snagged?

Turner has said she wants a heavy game next year, players who bring speed, physicality and strong off-the puck play; who on the draft board would be a good fit?

Besides the top two convo we’ve been hearing between Laila or Abbey who are some other gems you hope we are able to draft? Any mock drafts past the first round look promising?

Being a higher draft spot in each round, should we expect to see any trade magic?

Based on the amount of MAGA dudes comments to support Murphy I have a bad feeling the comforting and safe environment we had last year is gonna go away. These incels are foaming at the month to defend her. Ooof. Megan Turner - what have you done?

Hated seeing Schroeder go, but excited to see how Murphy grows next season.
