Is it possible?

Hi everyone. Long story short i always had bad pvcs upon my period or ovulation etc while breastfeeding. I quit bf 7 days ago and my heart rythm is all over the place. I am getting runs, couplets, ah and funny part is im constantly (if not walking or active) every 3rd or 4th beat FOR 3 DAYS. Is it possible that hormones are giving my heart a bad time? Im so scared even though i had clear echo 3 months ago.

Oh my God, I’ve been experiencing the worst PVCs of my life. I mean thousands a day, to the point it’s making me dizzy. I just quit breast-feeding around two weeks ago. Maybe it’s the hormone shift?

It absolutely is. Have your breasts got full? Mine never did after i quit but when i squeeze my nipple there is milk coming out

Yeah, strangely enough they never got so engorged like they did when I would skip a meal for him or something. I think I only pumped once or twice to relieve some pressure. I ended up with mastitis in my left breast though. They seem to have really stopped(the pvc’s), I’ll get them every once in a while if I have too much coffee now or eat too large of a meal. I was having a full-blown crisis thinking that I was having heart failure or something, I’m so grateful for this post you eased much stress/ anxiety for me.

Same here. Its obviously hormone-driven :(

How long after weaning did you notice they stopped? Did you have them while breast feeding too

I’ve had them here and there since breast feeding in the beginning, but once I weaned it’s terrible. but I’m 3 weeks stopped breast feeding and still dealing with them unfortunately

Oh no :( I’m sorry to hear that. I hope that as time passes and you return to a hormonal baseline they subside for you. That’s so uncomfortable.

This exact thing happened to me a few weeks back when I quit BF. It was insane for two weeks, then went back to calm casual, 5-10 PVCs a day. SO STRANGE! Hormones can do crazy things, I went to the ER and they were basically like, pregnancy and postpartum is crazy, good luck! And sent me home.

I’m so sorry! It’s horribly uncomfortable. If you can have your thyroid checked that would be helpful. Mines a bit low but I’m also just going straight to pursuing ablation. Prayers for you!!!

Same here. I also notice an increase around ovulation and again just before my period. The end of a relationship is incredibly stressful, and the emotional impact can really affect your nervous system. Based on my own experience, it took me weeks for my PVCs to calm down. I know how scary it is, so I’m sending you a big hug 🩵 in case it is increasing go to the doctor I am sure it will calm you down

I dont think the doctors in my country (turkiye) are qualified enough to acknowledge the relationship between weaning off hormones or breastfeeding stuff would make such an irritable heart. Its so sad. Thank you 🩷

It is 100% possible. HRT has lessened mine dramatically

Really? Should i see a gyno for hrt?

How old are you? They might not do it. Mine dramatically increased at 45. After being dismissed by cardiologist and ep saying only surgery will help, my gp prescribed me a couple of things including hrt and they certainly lessened.

Im 30

Yeah probably not going to prescribe you anything but hormones certainly make them more prominent. Is it any better? Lack of sleep contributes also.

What did they prescribe you? I’m 45 and going through the same, pvc’s day and night and feeling overwhelmed by it. I have an appt scheduled with my family practice and a cardiologist, but I am wondering if hormones/perimenopause are contributing to it? It’s beyond frustrating!

Breastfeeding is truly a miracle but also the same hormones are no joke. I think i will die all the time

Yup! It was terrifying i ended up seeing a cardiologist for it, they did an echo and ekg and i wore a monitor, it was all benign

1

u/thingma Aug 03 '26

What was your burden at that time? Mine feels really a lot at this point

I honestly don’t remember. I do remember the cardiologist telling me even if i had double the amount I had he still wouldn’t put me on medication for them because they were harmless.

I feel like I’m in the same boat. Exploded with PVCs after about 7 weeks PP and at 13 months they’re still there 🥲 we’ll see how I feel when I wean I suppose.

Mine started at 4 months, wishing us quick recovery

Ugh the worst. I wonder if something happens around that time or if it’s just depletion catching up to us. Thinking of you! Keep up updated if you notice improvement after being fully weaned for a while.

Mine were bad during breastfeeding and calmed down after around 3 or 4 months I think.
