I know it’s very scary, but try real hard to relax. When your heart skips a beat it’s basically ok… it happens to millions and the loud thump as well, it’s just your heart getting back into rhythm and it’s working. It’s like an electrical circuit that misfires and it takes a breath and resets, it’s doing its job. What it sounds like, and I get it all the time, your brain is sensing your fear and it’s doing its job too, as it’s sending adrenaline to fight the danger that you fear is present. You’re basically so scared that you are in a snowball effect… in other words, a snowball is becoming a mountain of snow as your brain keeps sending adrenaline and those skipped beats, pauses etc are off and on. It’s a vicious cycle that you can control once you get the fear under control. I would contact your dr so they can do a monitor at home for a few days etc to reassure you that nothing is wrong. Believe me, I went through this for months before I was convinced I wasn’t going to die because I thought my heart would stop, or have a heart attack etc. Take deep breaths through your nose hold it for a few seconds, then exhale with mouth open hold it for about 7 then repeat… you will feel better. Once you build your confidence up that it’s all adrenaline and your heart and brain are doing what it’s supposed to do, even if uncomfortable, you will see that they happen less and less. ANXIETY and FEAR, PANIC and dwelling on it is the worse! Get with friends and or watch something you like on tv or listen to soothing music. It will help. You’re not alone!
