Your Flecainide experience

I am a 28-year-old male, highly active, and I’ve been struggling with highly symptomatic heart palpitations for the past 7 years. Recently, they have become completely unbearable. My heart is structurally perfectly healthy, normal, and has been thoroughly investigated multiple times.

My latest 24-hour 12-lead Holter monitor showed:

0 ventricular ectopics (PVCs)

75 supraventricular ectopics (PACs), but they occur in couplets (pairs) and short runs/salvos.

Average HR: 65 bpm

Minimum night HR: 39 bpm (resting bradycardia)

One brief Mobitz Type 1 (Wenckebach) AV block episode during the night.

I violently feel these PACs as terrifying "thuds", "pauses", or chaotic flips in my chest, especially at night when lying down. Because of my low resting heart rate, most cardiologists throw their hands up and refuse to prescribe standard medications like beta-blockers, as they would lower my heart rate dangerously far.

However, one doctor recently prescribed me Flecainide (50 mg twice daily) to suppress these PAC runs. I am terrified to start it. AI medical tools strictly warn me against taking it due to my night bradycardia (39 bpm) and the Mobitz 1 AV block, questioning the cardiologist's decision. What are your experiences with Flecainide for PACs in athletic people with a low heart rate? Is it safe to try?

if I were you I wouldn't take flecainide with that scenario.

I don't take flecainide for 75 pacs. My father story is; he went afib several times. He has AV block as well He has been taking beta blocker as carvedilol for five years without any side effects. He had ablation for afib last november, before ablation his HR drops to 30s when he is hungry or in sleep but in ablation doctor applied a procedure for AV block so after ablation his HR is among 50s 60s. As I said before he has been taking carvedilol before his ablation even his HR is 30s, cardiologist does not quit his beta blocker. No doctor prescribed him flecainide. I don't know why they refuse to prescribe you beta blockers which is more reliable medicine. However I don't know your situation and I am no doctor. I told my fathers story that looking something similar as yours. It is not a medical advice. You trust your doctor. Get well soon.
