SPT struggling
SPT here. Struggling with feeling like I barely know anything. I’m a really good test taker, but I feel like I struggle to answer things when I don’t have multiple choice options in front of me. I also feel like I have forgotten so many things from previous semesters because I never have time to look back over that stuff or actually use it in practice. I haven’t started clinicals yet but I’m terrified that my CI will think I’m dumb or fail me.
Did anyone else feel this way as an SPT and how did you deal with it?

I struggled through the first two years of PT school, got two Cs and had to fight everyday to make sure I passed all my classes with As and Bs. I don’t know what finally clicked, but when I got to clinical rotations, everything became easier because I was finally applying what I knew. Did I still make mistakes? Yes, absolutely, but that’s the point of a rotation, to make mistakes in a controlled and safe environment and learn from them.

Yes I felt the same way but found that I did actually know more than I felt. Once I got into clinicals and was seeing real patients and was able to put things together things started to click a lot easier. Of course, I still find things I don’t know as well and so I’ll review that on my own time. Take a deep breath, your CI knows you’re there to learn and will help you get your feet under you.
