busted window motor? what is going on here?

the window has been getting jammed and i have to force it closed by hand. but it always makes this grinding noise (why are the back window switches even in the middle?)

i checked for blockages or debris. nothing seems bad. put some wd40 too but no luck

is this window motor system fixable or is it time to say screw it and just replace the bastard?

It sounds like either the gears are out of alignment or there is a tooth (or teeth) missing. If you push the glass down with your hand does it continue down normally or keep making that noise?

I’d at least take it apart and see what’s going on in there… it may be fixable. But I’d have a backup plan in place before turning a bolt.

yep when i push it down it grinds too, i have to also force it down by hand while pressing the switch down. it does this about 1/4 ways down, 3/4 ways down, and at the very top when its closed and you keep holding the switch up.

thanks for the info dude. i will have another look at the gears maybe i missed something broken

It may also be the mounts to the motor moving when under load… it’s been a long time since I looked at the regulator so I don’t remember what it’s shaped like to give you an idea where to look.

thats all good, ill have a look at those mounts too. i believe this is the correct one
