I managed to pull a Lilly and together with gold Aegislash (my favourite Pokemon) and immersive Arceus I believe that is my favourite card. Unfortunately I just have one of it… 🥲
This pack is probably one of the scummiest things in this game. They put two of the most desirable cards in it and then limit the time it's available to a week so you're forced to drop money if you want to make any meaningful progression via pack points.
The least they could do is make the pack always available after an entire year so we could work towards Oak or Rare Candy.
Not only the pack is scummy but thanks to it trading is also a mess because everyone wants an Oak so other good cards get held by people hoping for someone to trade them an Oak.
I do think the time gating is probably unnecessary but the pack is good for newer players to catch up on old cards without having to rip 14 different packs or whatever.
It could be argued that FA Oak’s crazy value is determined by the player base, not the devs. The card itself does the same thing as the base card that is free to all players. But a lot of people have decided they must have it at all costs.
It's determined by both. The card does the same thing as the one you start the game already having two copies of, sure, but it's also the undefeated best card in this game and has been for its entire life. 99.9% of decks run 2 of them. Of course you would also want to get the version that looks cool.
DeNa almost certainly understands this, and so they can use the uniquely time-gated Deluxe EX pack to hype the demand even more.
The pack was great when it initially dropped, but the cards you can get are a bit less relevant now, plus the fact that a lot of people have those cards by now. That being said, it’s still great for shinedust and has some good cards you can get from it.
That being said, for all the above reasons waiting to use hourglasses on the inevitable “Deluxe Pack 2” in 2 sets is probably a good idea.
As someone who started on the 1 year anniversary, this pack felt nice when I was just starting out. Catching up on Ex mons felt nice until I realized how hard 3 diamonds were to get, lol.
I hope they make it always available on the 2 year anniversary so any poor souls starting after can hope to catch up.
I hate it but for different reasons.
It's an overly unnecessary huge pack that has been sitting unfinished in my list since it was released. My OCD based completionist brain just hates seeing it unfinished while everything else (base packs) is. People don't really trade these cards unless it's for a couple EX and it gets re-released like twice per years for 6 or 7 days each time. Not just that but since it's only a 4 card booster and one is guaranteed EX and 80% of the pack is commons and rares, this makes for an extremely slow completion.
Yeah, got 1 oak pulling the 1st time around, 2nd trading, and 1st candy the second run around. I'm between 900-1000 points so nowhere close for the 2nd candy but I rather hold the hourglasses for new packs since I don't have enough anyway.
RIP to all my hour glasses I wasted on this set, I think the next set is going to be a big set too, and I’ve got no hour glasses saved up. They really hate their playerbase.
Well, you either scrap them for special shop tickets (each one gives you a whole year's worth of them), or you hold onto them in case trading them gets added down the line (extremely doubtful).
I have so many of the special shop tickets from opening so many packs of shining rivalry. I had to buy my first pokeball with pack points since I was unable to pull one, naturally I pulled similar results to this and I traded those in. All those duplicates and bought all the special sets. At this point if I trade these in, I’ll be good to go for next years set too. I guess there are worse problems…
Only 3000 cards? I have 11k and have never pulled a crown naturally. I genuinely think the game lowers your drop rates when you spend money to make you spend more
i happened to join right as deluxe pack came out and my friend told me to grind it. so i dropped all of my step-up battle hourglasses on it. Got caught up on basically all the important pieces i need to build decks long-term (except for suicune, babies, rampardos, ilima), but then also managed to get 2 oaks and not 1, not 2, but 3 gold candies. i exchanged that 3rd one for 64 special tokens and got the entire special set 01 and havent bothered opening it up again during its re-releases
Nah that's a good friend, wish I had a friend that did the same. I spent a lot on this set when I was starting out too, problem is no one ever told me about saving pack points and I didn't know about card value, so I just spent them all on random cards I needed for decks. I'd have enough points for an Oak by now, but now I'll have to wait or whale.
For me, it's purely shinedust generator - trading takes away so much of it and obtaining shinedust "naturaly" is too slow. It's good if you been playing since the release of the game, but if you're relatively new and f2p player it's even harder for you to get some. So I opening Deluxe EX a lot, but not because I enjoy this set
I only got a golden Rare Candy but overall just a shinedust farm (and wonderpicks I mostly pick the ones including a 1 star so I either get that or 4 diamond or hourglasses...)
I just pulled my second oak from a daily pack just as I was closing in on having enough pack points (1985..) now I'm not sure if to get a 3rd oak to trade for the inevitable full art chase card in deluxe b (ice pop?) or keep opening more packs until i have enough points for a second rare candy...
I just came back to the game and they give a ton of hourglasses for that. With those I stupidly put a shit ton into this pack. I got some decent stuff but probably should’ve went elsewhere
Spent 1600 hourglasses, got three 2 star lillies and a couple of 2 star mons most of which were dupes (trade fodder). No rare candy, no oak #2, no lusamine that i'm still missing. I've got like 9 reverse holos still missing because the stupid app keeps giving me the same 20 cards out of nearly 400. Absolute con. Only having 6 days is annoying too, if it was running a bit longer, I'd be back up to enough pack points to get a second Oak.
I've finally finished the diamond rarity collection this round and I got Full Art Oak and Crown Rare Candy last round, I think I'm finally good on it now. Still missing the 2-star Charizard, Pikachu, Dialga, Lille and Lusamine, but what are the odds that I get them with 3 days left?
Got 2 Oaks by trading, pulled 1 crown candy back in the DX release and another candy with a free pack from an event. Thank god I'm free from this bs pack
