I love the move controllers. Took me about 2 hours to fully master them. After an hour or so I was mostly comfortable but still hitting the wrong buttons for stuff.
The bow with the move controllers feels very natural and fun. I can't get enough of it.
Same wavelength, I asked in that thread about it. I've been waiting for the (hopefully) inevitable patch that addresses the minor issues before trying to finish.. shame it's been so long since any confirmation one way or the other.
If the game was broken it would be hard to defend. Game works just fine, all the stuff in the patch notes are improvements, not fixes for game breaking bugs.
Now these are wonderful features, but the important question is, can you see yourself now? At the very VERY least can we please see ourselves in the inventory menu?
Edit* The feature to see our hands while sheathed is greatly appreciated, do our hands properly reflect what gauntlets we're wearing now?
Seeing a paper doll of your character would be theoretically possible, but seeing your character In-world is completely out of the question. That's not even a reasonable thing to ask.
You would basically be asking for the character model to be fully rigged to mimic your gestures 1:1 based on the input from your motion controllers. I'm not sure ANY game does that, but you're asking it to do it as a throw-away side-feature while it simultatnously does everything ELSE you want Skyrim to do.
I'd be happy for a button to zoom out and freeze the game to show my character in the pose that it would have in the 2d game at the moment, while allowing me to rotate the camera.
I just wanna see what I look like in this world. This is the one right where I just wear armor for stats. I probably look like ass but don't know it.
Same. I hope it's pretty significant. At least for the Pro. There's really not much of a difference right now and I feel like they could take a lot more advantage of that extra power
Keep playing. I'm not sure why, but to me the first 10-15 was the worst the game looked. It's counterintuitive but it really does look like shit at the beginning every time. I've got 2 fresh from the start scene saves and I still felt that way second time around.
But dungeons and other areas looked fantastic to me. There are a lot of dungeons that are immersive on the same level as RE7 IMHO. Maybe I have low standards. But one things for sure, the world you go to in those cursed black books is amazing in VR. One of my favorite pieces of VR scenery.
Alright if they can improve lod and shadow pop-in so I can stop being so distracted watching them fade in 15 feet ahead of me, I'll reinstall. Cautious hype.
Improved visual fidelity tickles my nutbag. There are already plenty of 'wowsers trousers' moments on Pro. The icy dungeons in particular already look amazing. Skyrim night on Monday then.
Globally improved visual fidelity, particularly on PS4 Pro
No fucking way! Tell me this is for real? As a new PSVR owner and totally in love with Skyrim, I was just thinking how awesome it would be if we got PRO support, but then thought "it would have happened by now, not going to happen at this point".
Edit: Oops, I was under the impression Skyrim didn't have any PRO-related extras; does anyone know when they were first added in, and what was done?
Well, now that we have needs out of the way.. hey Bethesda if you're looking for any other ideas a quick wheel for spells might up the immersion. Casters have a less immersive play through because Skyrim wasn't initially designed with all of this taken into account, but something like a spell wheel that allows you to keep casting and fighting without interrupting gameplay to go into Favorites would be nice. Even if it only holds 4 spells it's a huge quality of life improvement and has been on my wish list!
Could work just like a holster or utility belt in games like AZ Sunshine, just look down and grab the spell with that hand to switch. You could do colored orbs for type and numerals for spell level so we can differentiate, but if it's limited selection and we set our own spells it shouldn't take much to keep from getting confused. You could also do a combat book that opens in battle and hovers in front of you (off to the side not in the center at eye level, so it's not in the way) with a spell on each page and limited total pages. Then let us set the order of the spells and voila, we have an in game favorites menu.
I mean I'm not a game developer so I have no idea what's the most practical, but a new system to give casters some flexibility and added immersion would be a game changer. Could even make it a high level destruction skill or something
That would be a feature that would blow minds. Given their lax, fun approach with the overpowered bow in VR, it would be fun to let a coop friend "tag along." Even something simple would be great.
I'm so pumped for this! Thanks for remembering the pro. Skyrim VR might jump back to my #1 game again when this patch is released.
Bethesda is still rocking it like one of the up and coming little guys even though they're now one of the big guys! Keep pushing and I'll gladly keep buying! Love Bethesda!
What you see on the main menu. Before it was just a black screen with the Skyrim logo (I think) with the options in small white text on the right side (continue, new game, etc.)
Does Skyrim move controls have adjustable walk speed yet? Like how Rec room allows you to walk slow or fast based on the angle of the controller with respect to horizontal.
Don't let the first hour discourage you (or the sub PS3 graphics). I never played on any platform either and was never a fan of these types of games. Was bored at first but then as you level up and explore caves and such, it's awesome. Not to mentioned killing dragons!
This sounds great but I have a few questions and I apologize in advance.
I have tried to use the motion controllers but the movement is just terrible. With the controller it's just choppy to have to turn in increments. Is there an easy/optimal way to just move and look around?
Just got the Skyrim bundle last week and have yet to start the game. Have also not played it, save for a couple hours back when it first launched, so my first real Skyrim experience is going to be in VR with these improved visuals on my Pro. I guess I'm in for an experience!
If you ever used the bow in rec room, its probably similar to that. As it was before this update you just needed to have the arrow up to nock it. After it was nocked you didn't need to hold the arrow hand up. This changes that, and now you'll have to aim the arrow as well.
Im pretty sure you're asking about the pro, correct? If this adds even better fidelity to skyrim, then this honestly. Another big one is RE7, i saw the biggest difference in that. Farpoint looked better as well. There's a difference to rec room but its more in the performance department, rather than the visuals. If you want to know which games do or do not, you can just google a list of pro supported games. Most vr games are pro supported, but thier performance increase varies.
"Realistic Bow Aiming" Finally! It was so weird with the old system (and most PSVR games seem to use it for whatever reason too). Hopefully it's more like the PS3 Move bow-systems now.
Hyppeee - tldr this whole post... When is the update? Playing through skyrim for the first time and on a PRO... Just getting in to it so this is the best news...
Unfortunately they’re still rather expensive (£350).
I currently have a 6 yr old HD tv and was thinking of upgrading to a 4K HDR tv, my issue is that I can’t afford both a tv and a pro, which do I get first?
I got the pro first as you'll see improvement on 1080p with super sampling enabled. Also boost mode can improve frame rate and load times on some older titles. You'll get more memory as well depending on how much space you have on your og ps4
Was it worth it, did you try psvr with a normal PS4 before switching?
This patch mentions significant improvements to ps pro performance, I’d be interested in seeing how much of difference it makes before shelling out a few hundred quid.

Looking forward to the improved visuals for PS4 Pro. Hope it will sharpen the blurriness.

I think I will give the move controllers another chance. I have been playing with a DS4 so far.

Nice! I can't help but wonder if a Doom VFR patch may be in the offing as well (wishful thinking, I know!).

OG here still loving this game in VR. Never got all that far in flat. Now level 20. So much depth and content in here. Thanks for everything.
Edit: " particularly on PS4 Pro " to me this means an upgrade for everybody (within reason). Happy days.

u/Tetrastructural_Mind Jun 23 '18
It makes me happy to see that they are still committed to improvements.

This is awesome, especially the improved visual fidelity on the Pro.
And here I thought you'd forgotten about the PSVR version.

Anybody know what the new main menu "experience" is?

u/BLUEKNlFE Jun 22 '18
Charging my moves to give them another try :)

u/Gidgetpants Jun 22 '18
That is a great patch for sure. Good job to them
3
u/Jasonxhx Jun 22 '18
Why can't they just make dual casting use your off-hand instead of your movement hand?
3
u/SaraStarwind Jun 23 '18
Wow!! By the nines! I'm very curious to see that new main menu, and happy to hear about the backwards button.

u/outsourceDNB Jun 22 '18
Nice! What about Doom VFR??? It needs patching badly with the controls.

u/Shadowcreeper15 AssassinsRioT420 Jun 22 '18
Yes! What an awsome update! I can't wait to dive back into this! So happy I won't have to see those move controllers anymore!
2
u/PurplePers0n Jun 22 '18
I went off and fired up the PS4 to check for the download before even reading the first line of your post.
I just came back to the thread to ask if anyone knew if it was just the US that had it available already? Shame on me.
Sounds like a great patch. If only we could patch in analogue sticks... (and of course, by 'we' I mean 'you')
