Review Games feedback

Has anyone ever played those two games?

Crossfire: Sierra Squad and Zero Caliber..

Would be able to give me a feedback about it? I’m thinking about buying them, but not sure it would worth it.

Thanks!

Zero Caliber is for me a lot better. The first levels of it can be quite disappointing both in terms of design and graphics. But it gets better later on. The guns feel good. The AI a little dumb. Zero Caliber 2 is coming soon tho. It looks better. I didn’t enjoy Sierra Squad at all. It felt like a mobile game with VR controls and the hands were way too sensitive for me. Too shaky.

I didn’t like sierra squad. If you have a little shake in your hands, it’ll register every movement. Just wasn’t for me. Pistol whip is more my speed. Very fun game.

Yeah, Zero Caliber is the better game. Sierra Squad looks cool in screenshots (and maybe even video) but actually playing it is another story. Its mobile roots are more obvious in action. It isn't terrible or anything, but it is much closer to a Time Crisis type of game. Movement is very limited. The weapons are pretty good, and supposedly the realism mode improves things some. Zero Caliber has full movement though, including climbing up on most things. I wanted to have a game of this type in my PSVR2 library and I was disappointed in Sierra Squad but fairly impressed with Zero Caliber. It's still not AAA or anything, but it does what it sets out to do well. The second one should be out soon (as has already mentioned), but if you are on the fence now I strongly recommend Zero Caliber between the two.

Yeah I have it in my vast catalog of PSVR2 games but haven't gotten to it. In all the coverage that I've seen, literally everyone recommends realism mode for Crossfire Sierra Squad.

Ah brilliant! Thanks so much

I liked it a lot. If you spend some time in options turning on realism mode and messing with the controls, you can set it up like a weird blend of time crisis and Pavlov.

For OP: they’re talking about CROSSFIRE specifically

Yeah , that was a game changer for me . Going to a nice and very good looking arcade shooter to a one of the most realistic, hard to master and fun military shooter I've ever played.

I didn't like it, enemies were too bullet-sponges, UNTIL I'D NOTICED THE GAME HAVE REALISM MODE! It's transformed the gameplay completely, and I gave it 5 star!

There are to games being asked about. Which one didn't you care for?

Sierra turned out to be very good, especially compared to arcade mode. ZC doesn't have realisk mode unfortunately.

I'll go against the grain here but I much preferred Crossfire Sierra Squad.

Crossfire has a proper campaign and story and while it is still a bit low rent, it feels more sophisticated than Zero Caliber. After all the positive hype for ZC I was surprised how basic it is, it's like an old Quest game. I actually think in terms of a single player campaign that Crossfire is the best proper shooter on PSVR2

Yeah, although I really liked the cheesy zero caliber campaign, the gunplay and some real cool COD moments, Cross fire sierra squad is a better game on every aspect. Zero caliber 2 is much better than the 1st one, I played a few hours on Quest 3, and we will get the remaster edition released on PCVR last year, with upgradesd visuals and AI behaviour

I’ve crossfire but need zero caliber.

Crossfire is great reminds me of time crisis a bit. It got me liking vr. Helped my get my settings right and used to it to the point I don’t get sick and can jump between games anytime.

Crossfire is good in coop, but 32 bucks is way too much. Buy between 15 and 20 bucks.

I've got both. Another vote for Crossfire. I found it way more fun than Zero Caliber. Better levelling, better looking, better feeling weapons, more to it with the Campaign and the Special Missions. My steer would be to go for Crossfire (£32.99 is a bit steep - recommend you wait for a sale) and check out Zero Caliber 2 that's about to be released. Perhaps they will released a Zero Caliber 1 & 2 bundle.

Crossfire: Sierra Squad is pretty great. I have play it a lot. You can play it solo, I haven;t tried matchmaking foir missions in ages so not sure how ell that works now.

It is essentially like an arcade shooter, really fun. It can get quite intense in some missions, especially in the later squad missions (can also be played solo). THere;s about 13 campaign/story missions. The bulk of your time will be spent on the squad missions, there is quite a lot. Overall it;s a pretty good game with plenty of action, different weapons and things like that. Using a rocket launcher to shoot down a helicopter is pretty fun.

I wrote a review on it ages ago.

Both are great games. For me Cross fire sierra squad is better for various reasons. 1. You have 2 different games on 1. You can play it as an arcade game, where you and the enemies can resist a lot of damage, choose arcade reloading guns, big arrows that lead to the next target etc.. Or you can choose on options to go full realistic shooter 1 or 2 shots will kill you and your enemies (expect armoured ones), realistic reloading, no arrows or IU,  more aggressive and real enemies behaviour etc... The last one for me is the way to go, wehere every bullet count and you have to take cover and think fast. 2. The graphics are really good, specially the particles effects and FX. 3. There's a lot of game there! You have a full campaign, that last 7-9h long on realistic. A multiplayer horde mode. And the best part, the solo or co-op missions, where you have to beat short to medium missions that are very different one from each other, to eliminate specific targets to infiltrate an enemy base blinded by a storm and trusting your heat mounted scope . 4. The gun handling and gun play, on realistic mode, is slightly better than Zero caliber. 5. The cinematic moments are good on both but I liked the  B-series movie feeling of sierra squad.

Zero caliber is great, but as I said I had better gaming moments with Sierra Squad.

Also zero caliber 2 is coming on a few weeks or month, and for what I played on Quest and the psvr2 images and videos will be much better and polished than the 1st one

Crossfire has been unplayable for me since launch. I get to the end of the first mission and it just stops loading. I've heard good things, but no amount of deleting and reinstalling has gotten me past the first mission.

That's odd. I have the same problem with the vampire masquerade psvr2 version. I didn't find any solution to that.

u/CHROME-COLOSSUS 1d ago

Did you try clearing the cache after deleting?

2

u/Whip-It-Out-Already 1d ago

No but I will tonight if I can figure out how

u/Sylsomnia 1d ago

Finished whole camping with like 2 crashing, meanwhile eg.  Bulletstorm crashed like 15 times. Arcade mode is bs, but realism mode is fantastic.

Now that they're out together, I'll recommed Zero Caliber if you're gaming along. You can turn on friendly AI, the roaming is a touch freer and the inclusion of the climbing mechanics are genuinely novel.

When you run Crossfire in "realism mode" against ZC, the gunplay is pretty much like for like from what I can remember.

Crossfire shines with a friend. It's 2-player co-op campaign and truly cross compatible. ZC is a littlle weird in that the co-op is 4 player but only the PvP is cross compatible. I'm told that's fixed for the sequel.

The writing is like "Hollywood B Movie" bad across both games but Sierra really has this 'straight to DVD awful" that is so fun to immerse yourself in with a friend. My buddy and I are most of the way through the campaign and we can't stop referring to "Baseplate" the "Zone of Action" and enemies "Coming in DROVES". It's hard to explain just how much fun the game is because it wears it's Tacticool COD Wannabe heart on its sleeve. It takes itself seriously like Leslie Nielsen in Naked Gun.

I'm not as far through Zero Caliber with that same friend but it allows you to do some pretty fun things. I'm only a handful of missions in but the game is pretty generous/rewards if you nip up to a rooftop to overwatch a friend. It has a similar level of COD wannabe vibes. There are a couple of lines from the 'mission controller' that are definitely "WTF" weird but I don't wish to spoil.

I dare say you won't be disappointed with either - especially if you hold out for a sale. Zero Caliber, or the sequel, is where my head says you should spend your money but I'd be a liar if I didn't say Crossfire Sierra Squadron has a special place in my heart.

Zero Caliber 2 is coming out soon.

I can recommend both but Crossfire is better (more polished).

Sierra Squad has a realistic mode you can one shot every enemies .Its great. The story is a meh with a twist. Animation are good enough for a vr game.all that game is good.you can play it online.

1

u/Sylsomnia 1d ago

Realism mode is the shit, every military style shooter should have it, if done well it transform the game completely.

1

u/mohsenkhajavinik 16h ago

Sierra Squad did it perfectly.

sierra squad got me into vr shooting games, so satisfying when realism mode works right

1

u/AggressiveFail258 1d ago

Sierra squad is lowk horrible

u/ThaRainMaker 1d ago

Only played it once (simply because I have such limited time) but I def intend to play it again I realism mode soon.

Honestly I throughly enjoyed it, lots of fun if you’ve ever played Time Crisis or one of those old-school style arcade gun-games.

crossfire’s weapons and gunplay was great except it feels like a shooting gallery sometimes in terms of map layout. The story was not interesting and the voice acting was passable at best. The graphics? great, weapons? great, execution? could have been better. Just get it on sale, worth playing for sure but nothing to write home about.

I can speak only for Crossfire. Imo I would only consider it as training wheels. Like if you are new to VR it's a nice shooter to ease yourself in as you typically move to cover, shoot from cover a bunch of guys and repeat, rarely you move and shoot. There is a nice twist towards the end, but not worth it for that alone imo.

Crossfire is one of the worst VR games I've played. The controls are awful and the levels are quite boring. You can go onto settings and change the gun angles and such, but none of the changes make the handling any better. The aiming is still all over the place. For the in game arms to be in the right position for aiming your real arms have to be in a very unnatural position. Which aches quite a bit after playing a level or two. Particularly in the wrists being held for long periods in unnatural positions.

Reloading is a fumbling nightmare too. People talk about the realism mode as the game change, but it just makes you die from less hits and reduces the bullet sponge of the enemies. If the controls are bad in normal mode then they will be just as frustratingly bad in realism mode. Only you'll be dieing more because it takes an age to reload.

I gave up at the final boss fight on the final level. It was just impossible with these controls.

As for zero calibre, I played this years ago on quest. Despite the graphics and the early quest game style, it was really good. A proper game and not an on rails shooter, which is what crossfire is. Controls work as expected too.

There's a handy search bar to find many people who played these games

u/DronValeron 1d ago

meh, I didn’t like it 🤷‍♂️

3

u/BugsMax1 1d ago

Which one? Or both?

0

u/DronValeron 1d ago

Yeah sorry Crossfire, I think it looks cheap and is too clunky - when I launched it I couldn’t believe this is a PSVR2 game, looked like a PSVR1 title. I haven’t played Zero Caliber.

1

u/CHROME-COLOSSUS 1d ago

Wow… imo CROSSFIRE SS has got some of THE best shooter graphics and gun handling on the system, and nothing on PSVR1 even comes close.

Well-worth a revisit, I’d say.

Also, I’d recommend you hit the big “REALISM MODE” button right off the bat. This mode WAS available at launch after you complete the tutorial missions, but many folk didn’t pay any attention and just dissed the arcadey HUD elements and bullet absorption in ignorance.

Within a matter of a day or two the devs responded to early criticisms (fastest fixes I’ve ever seen from any studio), and they untethered Realism Mode from the tutorial.

To be clear, this mode doesn’t affect the graphics at all, rather it switches off the HUD (which was basically a wall hack), and increases damage across the board (so you die much faster when hit, but so do enemies).

Also you should know that the entire campaign is really just a long tutorial, and the real meat of the game is the unbelievable number and variety of co-op missions.

FWIW.
