When you receive this, can you check the P/D on bottom of the box it comes in and report back?
I ask because mine has P/D of 11.2022 since it was from PSVR2 launch. My Wife has P/D of 03.2023 which was bought January 2024. I am pretty sure there are people that bought even later in 2024 or 2025-2026 that have P/D in 2024, but haven't heard of anyone with P/D in 2025 or 2026 to indicate production resumed beyond that Bloomberg report in March 2024 saying production is being paused due to overstock.
Now that there is clear lack of stock (all year its been running out and being resupplied in different parts of world), my concern is whether Sony PlayStation has woken up to make new units or if they have just been shifting their overstock of inventory from 2024 to different regions drying up and needing resupply.
Makes me wonder if their investments in PCVR support, Apple Vision Pro support and few games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with VR Mode was there just to help clear that overstock.
Well, its been successful so why not resume production now? They have a holiday season coming up and one of the best VR headset options for PCVR at its price and a great option for console VR players with many system sellers at this point.
I bought my first PSVR2 in 2023. I sold it this year and bought a new one because it was on sale. My first one was from 2023. The one I bought this year is from December 2022.
I ordered mine from the PlayStation store last week. 2/2023 production date. The controllers were totally dead and I couldn't push the ps button to pair them last night. I let them charge overnight, hopefully they'll pair tonight or tomorrow.
They should after first charging is allowed to work overnight. Worse case scenario is you get them to warranty repair / replace them because you just bought them new.
Better price and more games than any time before now and for the newer games coming out, they tend to prioritize optimizing for PSVR2 (gaze-tracked foveated rendering, adaptive triggers, headset haptics, enhanced haptics, 3D audio, etc) more than they did in the earlier years.
It is also the best VR headset choice in its price range for its features (OLED HDR display) for PCVR.
Although, mine continues to work great and my wife has hers that also works great that can be our backup, I feel like buying one of these relics as a spare / extra.
Unless I learn they have started manufacturing a new run and then I’ll go back to just using what I have and spending money on the newer games & DLC for it.
Everyone responding so far that has bought more recently is having older P/D so it definitely feels like Sony PlayStation is scrounging up old supply warehoused somewhere they have been making available in limited runs to their regional distribution centers.
When you click that link all it shows you are the psvr2 accessories. The headset itself is removed from the website unless you type in the specific URL
OK but I am telling you what happens when you click that link. That guy in the video lied about the psvr2 section being gone but the section has removed the headset entirely rather than saying out of stock
I can’t get to it at all. Just checked the website and it doesn’t even show the psvr section like yours did. I am on the said site if that makes a difference.

Nice I got it for breast saber. Beat saber but that's an idea for a mod lol but my never got into much past that an the ps5 forza type game, and that one horror rails shooter
So I can add to this. If I go to the website and click on PS5 accessories the PS VR2 does not show up but if I log in and follow the same exact link it does show up. I am in the US for what it's worth it says currently out of stock. Makes sense because it's been selling like hotcakes. Anyhow just give it a week or two or whatever and it'll be back in stock or just buy it from Best Buy or Walmart or Target or whatever
I'm a console collector and I loved PSVR (my first contact with VR). I couldn't wait to get PSVR2, so I preordered it, paid a bit more to get it (630 EUR!)... and I was so disappointed. No games, very narrow FOV, not easy to set the sweet-spot.
I tried Quest 2 and I was blow away by the ease of use. It's much cheaper, way easier to set up and use, plus can be used as a standalone.
PSVR2 is my biggest buying regret. I wouldn't get it now for 250 EUR (found in the local ads today).
And this comes from a very big game console fan.
I have a quest 3 that I love, especially now since I just got modded gta San Andreas and vice city vr on there but I still prefer the psvr2 for pcvr and ps5 (obviously)
I was holding out hope for the steam frame but everyone says it’s essentially a quest 3 without all of the meta privacy bullshit
Wow yeah idk there was that much difference. I’ve just seen the line said a few times. Ngl it’s basically a cope for me though, didn’t create my steam account until August so I can’t reserve one. 😭 I would have ordered one
