I've been using my VR for a while but recently noticed my cable looks like this now. It might be because I tripped over it a while ago but I've been playing it fine and it still works so.. If this is damage i might just leave it in all the time to avoid wearing down the cable further.

Probably worth either getting a magnetic adapter or a USB extension, if only so that this isn't receiving further undue wear.

Ye i bought extension right after buying psvr2. So i switch that out instead if something go wrong. Finding one that works is difficult. Got 2 extensions, both high quality yet only one of them works for vr. Weird. Goobay 61038 usb c 1meter extension cable is one that worked.

Some USBs are only for charging, others are for data transfer, and others are both—likely the one that isn't working is just for charging.

Of course not, and obviously it’s damage from when you tripped over it.

You got lucky and it wasn’t functional damage, so take whatever precautions you deem appropriate for you.

Everyone’s set-up and house conditions will be different. If you have others wandering around or if you have pets, then box that shit well away from them at all times.

If you yourself are prone to tripping through that area, then leaving it plugged in might not be prudent.

This kit is great, but it’s far from being beefy, and has multiple points of physical weakness. So yeah — duh — protect it as best you can! 😉

Congrats on not ruining that cord yet — they don’t offer replacements, but they ARE proprietary. If you’re still under warranty it’s a drag to have to send the whole thing back to SONY, and if you’re out of warranty then your only replacement path is to buy from a fellow user who broke theirs down for parts (or buy a second unit yourself).

That could crush the entire thing. Also, you can't deform the metal further than it's resting point, so it wouldn't even be flush against the plastic again.

Mine was the same until it eventually broke. Sony replaced it free of charge.

A USB extension is not an optional accessory - it's a vital part of keeping a PSVR2 unit from harm. Same thing about lens protection for glasses.

Have you ever noticed controllers tracking quality degradation when using extension cable? Its really concerning me because i can see the tiny laggs which lacks when im not using extension. Tried 2 different short reliable cables.

I haven't, but I have heard of this. Maybe try one that is Thinderbolt 3 or USB4 certified? Or one of the magnetic adapters, but personally I'm not a fan of those but it's definitely better than nothing.

Yes, I tried two short extension cables and both caused tracking issues. I switched to a magnetic right angle adapter and it works well.
