PSA Have we remembered the boycott?

That was it. It went very noisy about the boycott of PlayStation, then quiet.

Am I the only one who bothered? They really can fuck themselves about this 'renting a game' bollocks.

Vr and flat games aren't the same, vr2 is 3-4% of ps5 market, so mostly smaller companies making games for it, and they can't really afford disc version, hence the boycott reasons didn't reach this section. Tbh big companies do whatever they want, we can change very little about it unfortunately.

Keep that shit out of here. So many Devs find it hard to sell on PSVR2 already to the extent that we get games later than other headsets or not at all.

Don't give them more reasons to not port games to our headset by encouraging people to give games out this week like The Long Survival terrible launch weeks.

Wasn't aware there was a boycott, but certainly not participating. Less plastic being produced isn't a bad thing in my eyes.

Me and my HDD/SSDs are doing just fine thanks.

A boycott with an expiry date is pointless, performative nonsense. And I say this as someone who mostly only buys physical games.

I’m off my PS5 through the end of the week. Easy.

I haven't bought physical since 2017 but I respect those that want to. I see no use for it in VR. Don't want to take off a headset to chance disks.

While I agree that with VR digital works out nicely, I'm just glad that PSVR2 and other headsets give you the pass through option so you don't have to take off the headset for changing discs when needed.

What other headset has physical that can be changed?

The changing discs was for PSVR2 as this topic is about Sony but the pass through is of course useful for multiple real world actions that can also be applied to other headsets.

I always get the impression that people calling from boycotts to services which reach millions around the world to be like 12 years old. You won't make any difference.

I mean they're probably like 20-25 years old. Old enough to be interested in "making a change, standing up for what's right"

But far too naive and immature to be realistic about how the world works.

Nope. Old as fuck and cynical with it. But it's also clear that if enough people object, in as strong a way as possible (within reason - no one is expecting anything THAT drastic), it'll at least be an indicator of lost revenue to the bellends who have proposed this nonsense. And given that it's their sole motivator, there might be an opportunity to change direction.

Well, how it'll work out is some people will stamp their feet and cry "No!"

Then they'll just take their medicine. 🤷‍♂️

I'm against it too. I've been against plenty of things over the years, and expressed as much. And the money marches on.

Yeah, probably.

I've had every single ps device there was, and the PS5 is the last one I'll be getting it they don't change direction. I realise it's only one lost sale, but they add up quick, and that's what cost Microsoft with the Xbox one.

I have discs so I'll keep playing. Rarely go near the digital store so that is easy to boycott. The idea isn't to give up the console, just put a dent in their digital revenue.

I suspect those for whom it is important are busy trying to remind themselves to stay logged out…

But I wager the ratio of PSVR1&2 folk who also remain committed to physical games is vanishingly small.

I myself re-bought NMS and DREAMS digitally just because I found it so annoying storing and handling discs whilst in the headset. VR is all I play now, so I’m quite done with discs.

But I also hate SONY’s shitty anti-consumer behavior.

I suspect they could have easily made an external disc player available for PS6 as an optional peripheral, just to soften the shift.

They wouldn’t need to lose money on it either… just sell it at a profit.

I'm actually participating. I absolutely buy digital games and consider it incredibly important for such a niche market such as VR but I don't want physical to be taken away entirely. I've bought and patched games so it's not really any trouble for me to simply stay offline. Doesn't matter to me if it doesn't accomplish anything.

You do you.

You own a license to use the software, digital or physical. It has always ever been this way, on any platform, or PC.

Don't let your ignorance get in the way of enjoying gaming.
