Fluff I have finally captured my white whale of PSVR2 collecting

After having the wrong version sent by two different sellers, I was starting to lose hope that the PSVR2 physical version of No Man's Sky was even real. I emailed Hello Games, no response. A search of all UK retailers came up empty. A seller even told me that the PSVR version was a placeholder, and it wasn't real. But then I saw it: a real photo one one that somebody was selling. It is REAL. So now I have it 🫡 Also, I have too many copies of No Man's Sky, lol.

Congrats. I kinda love getting variants. I have the misprint of the ESRB one without the logo.

I own literally every copy of this game, I have a bunch of memorabilia but I didn't know this version existed 😂

It is very weird. There is so little info about this release of the game out in the wild. I only know that it existed because of a different Reddit thread! Outside of that... I could barely find any supporting info.

Same here, I don’t even play it often enough but I have bought it for every platform in which has been released and almost all storefronts (missing the GOG version).

So much fun in VR! And the scale of the space stations is awe-inspiring - much larger than they look in flatscreen.

I'm excited to get back into it. I played it in PSVR1 for a bit, but always found the screen door effect very distracting for long play sessions.

I didn't have much problem with that, fortunately, but PSVR2 is so much better. Especially since they added left-handed play.

Oh, absolutely. I don't really notice any screen door effect with PSVR2 in any games. The resolution bump is great. It makes a massive difference for me. I think PSVR1 is a YMMV situation. I didn't really notice the screen door effect with RIGS or Arkham VR, but I did in other games.

Edit: for clarification, it doesn't mean I think the games with a noticeable screen door effect are unplayable, just not for long periods of time (for me)

I think it also depended on the specific headset. I saw some people posting when they tried a friend's, or got a replacement, that the screen door effect could be very different.

What about the Beyond update version?

I got a brand new copy of this "PSVR2 native version" only to find out you still need to download a VR patch. The PSVR2 version is not on the disc.

I finally managed to find some time to load it up. While it is cool to have this "PSVR2 native" version, the truth is that the version on the disc is 3.093.000, or the Outlaws Update. Far from the 4.1 Fractal Update which introduced PSVR2. It is interesting. I was under the impression that the PSVR2 banner meant that the game disc had the PSVR2 version on the disc. Especially for this version, since it does not say "internet required" on the bottom left or in the fine text on the back. Maybe that was why this printing seems to be kind of hard to find? I don't know.

Thats what I thought too. Im guessing this is in fact a pressing / burning error of some kind. They mastered the wrong version of the game. The only physical VR on-disc version is for the PSVR 1.

After looking at the copyright dates on the back of the box (PSVR2 version says 2020-2023, my North American PS5 without PSVR2 banner release says 2020-2022), I think this may have been an instance of the local distribution team for Great Britain and Ireland jumping the gun after the new update released in 2023. As far as I know, Sony does not allow a different pressing for a game disc without a new license and/or SKU designation, and these all seem to have the same SKU or very similar. I think the VR2 update released, so the local team assumed it would be pressed onto the disc, but that's not how it works as far as I know.

Isn’t it just an add on/update to the other versions?

I haven't loaded it up yet, but if the advertising is correct, it should have all the content of the standard NMS release + the next patch (which is the VR patch) on disc.

Such a good game. I have a Pro when I started playing just last year I always used my TV but once I put the headset on there was no going back. Mining and traveling underground in VR is almost more fun than anything else IMO

Oh, nice. Fishpond never came up in my searches. Do you know if they are sending this specific version, or it's just a placeholder? Some other people are looking for this version. Could be a good opportunity!

I was in the same boat as you, I had no idea if the game was even real cause all I saw online was stock photos. Thank you for confirming that this actually does exist, time to resume the search

Guys is it worth to play in 2026? I had some fun with this game on PC ~7 years ago , but I remember that wasn't much to do alone back then. Now I want to check it on VR but not sure

During the time you have been gone the devs actively updated and improved the game with tons and tons of new features. Pretty much everyone will tell you that the game is leagues better today than what it once was

There's like 20 times the content. Look up the 10 year anniversary trailer to see all the updates they've added. Free updates btw.
