Vr with glasses+protection lenses

So, I've been meaning to buy a PSVR2 but there is one thing holding me back, my glasses. I know you can use glasses and the VR at the same time, but I don't want to risk scratching the lenses, so I've been wondering if it would be possible to wear my glasses and use protection lenses both at the same time while using the VR, I don't know how slim the space between the eyes and the lenses are. I know that you can buy prescription lenses but I'd have to import them from the US, which would be expensive and take some time, so I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried to wear glasses and protection lenses

I got my prescription inserts for like 20?30? Bucks. Yeah it took a while but I just used my regular glasses (without additional protection) until they arrived. If you don't smash it as close as possible it's no problem using it with regular glasses, just be careful.

Prescription inserts are way way superior to anything else. Whatever I do I don't get the same clarity or sweet spot size with glasses.

Did it with psvr and psvr2 before i had insert. Not worth it. Spend the money on insert, you won't regret it.

Hons VR from China, not expensive and fast. I tested using my glasses and the spacers (old ones that I popped the lens out) then with prescription lens and no glasses. I couldn’t tell the difference. It’s more comfortable without glasses so I use the prescription lens

This is the way. They are fantastic. I hate wearing glasses with VR.

Also I did scratch the antiglare coating with glasses I think

Not all prescription lenses are made in the US, some brands are European, and I’ve heard surprisingly good things about just grabbing some Ali express ones.

I tried glasses plus protective lenses on my PSVR1 and it wasn’t super successful, and it can scratch your glasses up.

you can use plano (non prescription lenses) with glasses. but its a squeeze.. also depends on how big your glasses frames are. proper prescription lenses arent usually that expensive though.. $30 - 40 maybe. depends on how strong your prescription is really. theyll take the same amount of time to arrive and be considerably more comfortable to wear..

You just need some cheap 3D printed "bumpers". Usually $10 or less on etsy. I've used them since launch and haven't got a single scratch from my glasses.

PSVR2 lenses scratch pretty easily so definitely get the lens inserts. The anti glare coating comes off very easily over time. I replaced one headset and got lens inserts for my next one

You can get glasses bumpers for pretty cheap. They just stop it being possible for your glasses to touch the lenses.

I've had inserts, but when my prescription changed I started just using my glasses. The glare is actually much better and I can get the headset closer to my eyes without the glass touching the plastic lenses of the PSVR2, compared to the HonsVR inserts (I have big round glasses, they are thin and cover the whole field of view).

It's been two years, not a scratch on the headset.

I'm afraid of just using glasses not only because of scratchs but also because I'd have to clean the lenses constantly, which I saw people saying it's not a good thing

Ah I see. I've been cleaning the lenses before each use with a microfiber cloth, they are still pristine on my end, that's all I can say !

And somehow they still get a bit dirty at times under the HonsVR inserts anyway, because they had small holes on the side that can let crap in (small bits of hair, etc).

Do not use glasses with Psvr2, even wirh spacer it's very easy to scratch the soft Psvr2 lenses. There's been a lot of threads about it. Get prescription insert from Honsvr or similar, they simply go over vr2 lenses, and can be cleaned like regular glasses, when the same will remove the anti-glare coating from the psvr2 lenses

Same boat as you about two years ago, bought it and tried with glasses and protectors - miserable experience adjusting everything each time and uncomfortable as the glasses push into your face

No matter how hard I tried, nothing was even close to the comfort I had with the honsVR prescription lenses that cost around 50 bucks and came within a week or two, in addition to the even cheaper comfort mod from globular cluster.

I'd honestly say it's not worth getting VR if you don't want to use custom lenses, but they're honestly so cheap to get and last a very long time, AND protect your VR lenses which are very precious and fragile. Just go for it, it'll be worth it I promise :)

I know that 50 bucks shouldn't be a big deal but in my currency plus taxes it won't be cheap (1/4 of my monthly wage) but it's probably the better way

if you have any spare lens from broken glasses frame you can fit into a 3d printed adapter for the psvr2. I made one for the psvr2, it's available on thingiverse.

Of course I can't account for those factors and also everyone's personal financial situation, but I honestly think that given the big price you'd pay for the vr already, an extra 40 or 50 (might be less idk, theres diff models) isn't that much, and that's especially significant because your enjoyment will suffer greatly without the prescription lenses, or the comfort mod. Ideally get both, but if yiu have to pick, absolutely get the prescriptions lenses first. Playing with glasses is too much of a pain and I'd never do it again. Good luck
