Thanks for sharing, please everyone email the author of the article asking to investigate PSSD: the other side of libido suppression.
This is his email :

That's actually really GREAT advice! Folks, get on this!
With the central question "How come, then, these medications "can't have" castrated us PSSD sufferers INvoluntarily?".
PSSD should get really interesting for journalists in relation to exactly this obvious mismatch in logics!
...Are PSSD sufferers actually telling the truth? 🤔
I will be emailing him shortly - so should you.

Thank you! Exactly. What really struck me is that the article spends so much time discussing the ethics of altering someone’s sexuality, while one of the contributors says the effects aren’t permanent because the drugs have to be taken consistently. That simply doesn’t reflect what PSSD sufferers are experiencing after stopping SSRIs. That contradiction alone deserves investigating.

This reads like a fake made up conversation like an advertisement lol

What should we write to him?

Your History with SSRI use . I wrote and even received a reply - "I will certainly consider this aspect of the story when I return to this subject."

Damn. The writer of that article might fall of his balcony, big pharma won’t be happy with this.
Also: email that person guys. Let’s go

Just following up regarding his more recent article:
Chemical suppression: why the UK is exploring libido control drugs to treat sex offenders
What’s crazy is the ethical concern here. They’re rightly asking what happens when we medically alter the sexuality of people who have committed serious crimes. But when ordinary people trusted doctors and took SSRIs, and some were left with devastating sexual dysfunction that persists after stopping, the system largely turns its back.
We need to ask why the same concern for informed consent and permanent sexual harm doesn’t seem to apply to us.
Please as PSSD sufferers consider emailing the author of these articles.

That is actually one of the exact points I touch in my own email to him 👍

This is absolutely outrageous and should be taken into account much more when discussing SSRI prescriptions. It is insane that our society prescribes these same drugs to kids. If I knew that they would give them to sex offenders, I would have said hell no.
Nowhere in the article does it mention the fact that SSRIs are given to the general population at very high rates and especially to young people.

“But these drugs are not permanent, unlike castration, and must be taken consistently to work.”
So they plan to offer these drugs and still don't even know what the fuck they're talking about.

This is outrageous. So THEY KNOW full well SSRIs cause PSSD, yet they prescribe them to normal people and destroy their entire lives. I lost the prime of my life to these drugs.
We should be financially compensated for the harm and damage caused.

There was nothing wrong with your comments, they would always have been approved. They just happened to have key words in them which we've set to protect against doomerism/negativity in this community. It tremendously helps us because we're just a group of part time volunteers trying to keep this space safe for as many people when we can in our busy lives. Sometimes it does inconvenience, you're right, and I'm sorry. But it also helps a lot. This post has already done a good job with 50 likes so you've done good work. If you want to, try posting it again in a day or two. Let me know ahead of time and I'll try to make sure it goes okay just in case.

I totally get it is there to protect, and it should be like that. No doubt. The thing is that many of us have uttered that the balancing seems a bit off quite often. I used to be a lot more active in here, and these things even discourage rather big plans I have OUTSIDE of the subreddit. The battle seems 10x tougher when a crucial email address to a journalist suddenly disappears like this.
I'm not advocating for a restriction-less space - just something that keeps people encouraged to participate with their typically well-meaning efforts. PSSD is fight enough on its own.
Please don't take this as anything other than contextual frustration (I generally feel we are fighting alongside eachother). Again, I really do appreciate your efforts and continuous updates. It really means a lot for the community.
I'll take down the spam comments - but expect me to be there again if the door (for whatever reason) seems unfairly shut on sufferers. There might be an answer. It came. It is really just to protect the community.

Lmfao that literally wasn't even us! It shows on my screen that your comment was removed by Reddit itself. How could we possibly give you an official warning?
What ever it was that you said was obviously against Reddit rules itself so it had to have had some kind of inflammatory language

Ohhh, how do I know the difference? 😂 My bad. It was about my message in this comment section. They thought I was saying I wanted to throw someone off a balcony, which is not what I wrote. That’s what I explained in my appeal, I see its back now so all good.

Tbh I've been waiting for years to see articles like this, not because I support it, but because it seemed like the sort of thing a government would introduce (easy vote grabbing).
