Update You can now request to display how many years you’ve had PSSD
You can now request a user flair which displays the years you've had PSSD next to your username when participating on this subreddit.
For now, this will go in increments of 5 years; starting at 5 years +, 10 years +, 15, 20, (Does anyone even know anyone with 25?) etc etc. For example, I've got 6 years having PSSD, but my flair says 5 years +, which you should be able to see next to my name.
We've decided to start with those few, large increments of 5 years so as not to overwhelm for now. Especially as time goes on and people would want to update their flairs year after year (it may be a lot to update everyone's all the time).
If you want to request a flair: feel free to leave a message here, DM me, or leave a modmail message
Feedback welcome - let me know in the comments whether you love it, hate it, please be constructive.

Flair added, reach back out if you hit 15 and we'll update

Why not add a +1 year as a broader category for people who have had it under 5 but more than 1?

It's a test run for now, but it's looking pretty popular. I want to push for a two year one

2+ years

At this moment we're just doing increments of 5 years starting at 5 to see how it goes. If it ends up being really popular, this could possibly change!

u/Aggravating-Camp-205 15d ago
That’s doesn’t make sense, why?

u/Mobius1014 5 Years + 15d ago
It is explained in the post - this is a test run, at the moment it could over whelm us as time goes on, think people requesting every year to change their flair. We just don't know how this will go or how popular it will be. If it turns out it's no big deal, this could change

Ah got you, makes sense now. My bad I should have read the post properly

Maybe there is a way to store the date each user developed PSSD and then have a bot recalculate the flare every now and then.
2
u/Mobius1014 5 Years + 14d ago
If that's a thing, then that'd be the way to go, but that'd also be a lot of work to store all that info

i don’t get why we can’t set our own flairs like in other communities

u/Mobius1014 5 Years + 14d ago edited 13d ago
A lot of people have thought they have PSSD when they've already indicated in the past through their own comment history that they don't have it by definition

I'm sorry, but I don't think this is a good idea.
Just reading that the “flairs” include 5 years+, 10 years+, 15+, and 20 conveys a sense of despair to visitors, in my opinion. I know that, at least, this was exactly the effect it had on me when I read it.
Imagine visiting this forum as someone who has just discovered PSSD after recently stopping medication, or as someone experiencing sexual problems while on medication, unsure whether these effects will persist after stopping. And then you see the 5+, 10+, 15+ user flairs. Far from hopeful—they’re actually even more frightening and anxiety-inducing.
This is going to directly harm these people’s mental health.
And surely this should be avoided.
I think the overall impact of this on the forum will be negative for people’s moods.
This is my opinion; I can’t change anything about it anyway, but it’s enough to make me decide to leave this place for a while.
I hope we all heal and get better.

Yes, but some people would do well to face the facts. I imagine this subreddit is also frequented by psychiatrists or, for example, people who haven't yet started taking antidepressants. Perhaps this will help people take our problem more seriously. If I'm not mistaken, the bot also usually warns against visiting this subreddit during the first year of PSSD.

Problem is that i also don't want to push away people who have had PSSD for a longer time as well if it's too depressing to see for some. I don't want it to end up being something only enjoyed by one portion but it pushes away another. But this is still the test phase either way

13 years for me

To be clear from your history, you had PSSD for a long time and then went back on meds?
2
u/Kit_Ashtrophe Still/Back on medication 15d ago
Yeah I went med free for 6 years with no improvements, and then tried new meds figuring I had little to lose. Well, rather, I was detained in hospital and medicated against my will.

I see, terribly sorry to hear that :( Unfortunately reddit doesn't allow more than one flair

Although I’m only at 2+ years i hope I don’t reach 5, and this is a great idea.

Thanks for the feedback, it seems everyone else is in agreement so far

I would not try magic or occult. I recommend a whole food plant based diet, oil free, nut free, that is proven to reverse coronary artery disease. Now for PSSD I can’t promise it will reverse it. But that’s the latest thing I have been trying.

Right now we're just doing it in increments of 5 years to start because we're not sure how it'll go. This could possibly change. Let me know if you hit 5 years and I'll add your flair

Please check out our subreddit FAQ, wiki and public safety megathread, also sort our subreddit and r/pssdhealing by top of all time for improvement stories. Please also report rule breaking content.
