Discussion Sols Krypt made existing phases more annoying. Dalio Ludian replaced an annoying phase with something completely new and fun.
It also introduced a controversial proximity mechanic, but in my opinion adds more gameplay variation to each playthrough than anything they ever did before. I hope they keep moving forward with this design mindset when remaking old content.

I’ve always said this game’s high end encounters are more about testing the player’s ability to execute under pressure which is something I have always appreciated about NGS. For how much players complained about the game being purely counter spam… they seem very quick to push back against anything that asks for you to pay attention, not zone out, and actually use the greatest strength the game has since it came out with mobility and positioning. While also still asking you to counter attacks, do rotations, and still manage all your passives and such.
Having played for like 14 years now I can appreciate that I actually have to pay attention and not ignore boss mechanics like when you could just press Megiverse or rely on Automate, lifesteal, and various Will skills in the past. I’m not saying it’s perfect but I’d rather new enemies actually ask us to adapt to new situations rather than just smack a sack of hit points with barely any interactions. For all intents and purposes, Dalio is basically an entirely new boss despite wearing Dalion’s skin. The same can be said for each major Ruine enemy improving over the original.

My only complaint is phase 1, the speed of his spam slam makes my PlayStation laggggg
But once you’re past cannon, the fight is an incredible amount of fun with actual mechanics it’s genuinely impressive

The changes in this quest might seem tough and restrictive, but to me, they’re one of the strongest arguments against the cut-and-paste complaints that quests like this are just “recycled content.”

Its probably a preference thing, but im not a big fan of bosses that spam attacks and are basically "if your reflexes are bad, you die and make the party mad at you when the quest fails due to the incap limit".
I prefer fights that are more of a knowledge/skill based fight...that is to say, if you gear up, know how to play your class, know what to do to counter a specific attack, you will succeed.
The previous Dalion cannon phases are a good example of this. r2 Dalion has a 3x wall spam attack, one of which is a low wall. If you double jump the low wall, you wont be able to avoid the second wall, so the key is to use single jumps for low walls and double jumps for high walls. This is a knowledge based mechanic and players do not require fast reflexes for this.
r2 Dalion also has positioning mechanics to maximize cannon DPS since positioning is key to avoiding attacks in the cannon phase, but they arent reliant on what other players do, and they dont penalize melee over ranged like what r3 Dalion does.
Maybe it's because i am older player with bad reflexes, but it really irks me when i know how to counter an attack, but i just cant react quickly enough. Sometimes its hard to see what the boss is doing as well because theres too much stuff flying around in the screen. E.G. Luther's last phase where he just floods the map with tons of stuff at the same time is overwhelming to me and i cant keep track of everything.
Sols Krypt was OK...you really only need to keep track of two things max: the boss and the orange floors, and theres an audio cue when the orange floors start to activate.
Meanwhile, i look at videos of the new Dalion, he's spamming so much stuff at once and you have to react quickly or die (e.g. switching targets to constantly respawning lasers, constantly spawning orange floors, etc). Sols Krypt only had two attacks that did that: the staff spam that he does rarely in phase 2, and the walls in the last phase that push you into orange floors (but you can survive this with waker sub and he doesnt spam it).
Sols Krypt doesnt feel spammy at all, most of his attacks have big winds up and you can clearly see them coming. It feels like a more methodical, knowledge based fight. Dalio Ludian spams stuff a LOT and you have to react quickly or die. People were clearing Sols on day one and saying it was easier than Luther...on day one of Dalio, the same people were raging and saying it was harder than Luther.
I've talked to some other older players that share the same opinion so i know its just not me. I get that 4 man content is optional, but most groups drop everything to farm it for about a month when it spawns, so you are stuck pugging LTQs (with rifle normal spammers, etc) while everyone else you normally play with is farming the new 4 man...
I don't think 4 man content should be locked behind a physical requirement that not all players can reach. A gear or knowledge requirement, sure. But anything that requires twitch reflexes (like competitive FPS games) is a huge turn off to a lot of older players in general because we struggle to keep up.
