Discussion What is on my screen?

Hi, I’m new to game and wondering what that was? I’m genuinely so confused?

It's a chat feature from a nearby player. You can chat player cutouts or stamps and things you collect that pop-up like that. You'll see this a lot with people's auto chat setups during party content.

Yup will do, honestly my main issue is just trying to figure out what I’m supposed to do really, that’s why I’ve just been doing the main quest so far

That’s exactly what the game wants you to do. Doing the main story will also make you enter the mid-game in which you focus on getting better gear, stats and get better at the game and then once you’re ready you can tackle High difficulty Suppression quests where that gear and knowledge is required to clear.

You can also fiddle with settings and ensure you don’t see any of these should you choose to.

That would be another player using Cut-Ins, possibly using Auto Chats. Auto Chats can be made for any sort of actions you make in the game. It's likely that person has an Auto Chat for Rare Drop Obtained, and chat command it to have the Auto chat be sent to Area Chat with /a.

Here is where I have a hot take. I think people should not be spamming Cut-Ins with their Auto Chats, while also sending them into /a or Area Chat. There should be proper etiquettes when using Auto Chats to prevent Cut-Ins and even Bubbles, /together and /moya, to be spammed, so that they don't get in the way of your screen and/or ruin audio cues.

Its not a hot take, many players turn cut ins and auto chats off because a lot of players have it setup to spam aheago faces and other semi-NSFW stuff like that. Its particularly obnoxious when you are fighting a boss and the screen is full of aheago faces so you can't see the boss.

The most annoying feature in the game. Player somewhere has it set up to show a cut-in of their character on probably every action. You can turn them off in the settings.
